Whoo, lookee here! An insanely special Thursday comic. My boy Tree has told me, in all seriousness, that I am the worst driver he knows. Wisely, he has not gotten into a car with me since telling me that, because in addition to being an aggressive driver, I am ridiculously vengeful and would have no problem killing both of us to exact my revenge on him for this insult. Note that I admit I am an aggressive driver. This is not to say I am a bad driver. I think I am a pretty good driver. I don't know what Tree's deal is. I guess he would prefer I wait for an opening the size of a Mac truck before ever changing lanes, who knows? I will say that he has, on numerous occasions, rolled down the passenger-side windows and yelled at the cars waiting to pay their tolls while we zip through the EZ-Pass lane.
I was going to post a section in the Museum dedicated to my uncle Mark's painting, but, like a nit, I forgot to take pictures of the paintings of his I own in daylight, and the flash created too much glare. I'll have to tend to the pictures over the weekend. In the meantime, he's a link to his website. Note that he has a show on Sunday, weather permitting (it's an outdoor show - if it's raining, the show's on the 17th of October, instead). If anyone in the NYC area feels like taking a drive, Mark's paintings are really interesting, and there is always good cheese at the shows. And usually wine. I will post pictures of his painting - with details - sometime next week.
I've been in news detox for a few weeks now, so I'm not sure if this is first in a series or not, but there's a presidential debate tonight. There will be a li'l ol' debate-watching party at my place. Donovan, Lauren and Jan will all be over, and we will all likely be enraged by whatever happens. I'm putting the over/under on "he's so fucking stupid!"s out of 2.0's mouth at 14.5. We'll probably be watching on PBS, but no doubt Fox News will present the most fair and balanced coverage of the event. It wouldn't surprise me if they switched the feed over to Trading Spouses: Meet Your New Mommy every time Kerry speaks.
Oh, that reminds me - unregistered voters, you have very little time left to register. This weekend or next, depending on your state. So, rock the vote, dude.
Also, so many people have come up to me and said, "Bullfrog, I really want to get that murderous greedhead Bush out of the Oval Office. But I have a raging pornography habit. What should I do?" Do both! The proceeds from this DVD evidently go toward fueling the Democrat's drive in swing states.
I'm rereading Caleb Carr's brilliant novel, The Alienist, the right now. I'm going to write a recommendation of it next week sometime (lot promised for next week already), but I'm recalling a lot that's slipped my mind since I first read it back in high school. For one, the search for the killer leads to New Paltz, where 2.0 went to school. Also, the killer apparently tells his landlord at one point, "He who travels swiftest, travels alone." Which is what my buddy Starky told me one time after he broke up with a girl. The fact that Stark is now a Marine does little to console me.
By the way, does anyone find Jay Leno funny? I'll never understand how anyone watches that show, let alone how he consistently beats Letterman.
Got Green Day's American Idiot Tuesday. I remember a few songs being a little different when I saw them live, but that could've been the beer. I've only listened to it once so far, but the album is quite good, if perhaps a little long at 57 minutes. That first song, though, is ridiculously catchy. There's a few anthemic songs on the disc, and it's one of the few rock operas I've been able to follow with any success (the Smashing Pumpkins' last album, Machina, was evidently a rock opera concept album thing, and I didn't find this out until eight months after the album was released, when Billy Corgan said so on their website).
Hey, look at this. A whole newspost without a child star's evangelical site. Although I did, honestly, just run searches for Jaleel White and Dustin Diamond, to see if they had anything. Also, Ashley from Fresh Prince of Bel-Air apparently graduated from Harvard in 2002 with a degree in government. So, Ashley, Winnie, we here at Five Bucks To Friday salute you!
