Comic for Friday, May 6th

Hey, a regular update. OK, all three of the strips that ran yesterday have been archived to their rightful places and hopefully I'll never have to do that again. Sorry about the mess this week turned into, but, trust me, you've missed the worst of it. Poor 2.0's had to live with a mess the past few days.

Speaking of 2.0, she is probably all that kept me alive this week. I don't mean that in some romantic she's-what-kept-me-going manner, although maybe I do a bit - I mean that without her there to go buy pudding and soup for me, I'd probably be dead.

On Monday, I woke up and promptly said, "I need to see a doctor." 2.0 took this admission of failing health on my part at a sign that things were indeed very bad - I have nothing against doctors, I just feel that, generally, I can get along without them. So, I, for some reason, tromped off to work, where my insurance site told me there was a doctor who took my insurance a few blocks away. I made an appointment and went. My symptoms at this point: extreme exhaustion, mild fever, very sore throat. I'm thinking strept. Thank God that the insurance site directed me to a semi-hollistic healer's who gave me tea and some herb pills and had a cat roaming around the office. She didn't even take my temperature. I asked, "Could it be strept?" I was told no, because my glands weren't swelling, which was good, because it showed that she at least believed that stept throat existed.

I cursed this woman more than once that evening, in the throes of a 102 degree fever.

2.0 took me to a real doctor the next day, who told me more or less the same thing (making me feel a little bad about cursing the first lady), but at least told me it was OK to use throat sprays and stuff.

Anyway, why don't I actually talk about the strip, and then let's see if we can't get you kids some links, you've been so good about waiting. OK, this is the end of song week, everyone. I hope you all liked it - I had a really good time planning this one, and it will never stop bothering that it got so botched up because of my diseased state. This one is Andrew W.K.'s I Love Music, off of his second album, The Wolf. I realize that it ends a lot like Ron's strip from Monday, but, meh.

This movie sounds awesome. But CAPalert man probably wouldn't approve. Tree asked me for that guy's url the other day (again), and while there, I found this little handy guide to everyday (and not so) symbols of the devil, or secular human beings. Did you know that once a meaning has been ascribed to something, once, it can never be altered? It's true!

RetroCrush has some ugly DVD covers for us to laugh at. I enjoy them all, but my favorite would be the Sideways one - is Thomas Hayden Church's face melting?

I was incredibly thinking of From Justin to Kelly the other day.

Nice welcome back to work today, Bronson took a no-no into the seventh against the Tigers. I noticed in the fourth, and of course told no one, so as not to jinx it. Of course, Guillen broke it up with a homer, anyway.

Texas, having taken care of all the Latinos on Death Row and whatever fresh air may've remained in Houston, is now getting rid of the only thing vaguely worthwhile in high school cheerleading. Note that the "good" "people" of Texas voted for someone named Senfronia. Also note that the unlikely named Senfronia is the voice of reason in this one. God, living in Texas must be like constantly having your stomach probed with an instument inserted under one of your toenails.

I'm listening to all the songs in alphabetical order on Polly. I'm at about 210 and U2's Angel of Harlem right now, although I skipped the Pumpkins' last concert which is all listed as 20001202-track number-song title because I haven't taken the time to erase that part yet. Anyway, the Killers' Andy, You're a Star was on during my train ride, and there was a baby on the train somewhere crying in perfect rhythm to the guitar intro. It's only a so-so song, but, Tree, once you're spinning again, the baby-crying thing would be interesting to work into your remixes. Bright Eyes tried it on a track on Digital Ash in a Digital Urn and it didn't work in the slightest, but it can be done.

Oh boy, oh boy! At the end of the month, we're in line for our first review here at Five Bucks. I will celebrate by not sleeping soundly until then.
