Comic for Wedneday, Jan 12, 2005

(Apologies to Lauren, if she reads this.)
Since Hello Kitty features prominently in this comic, it seems appropriate to provide you with a link to a page where a dude draws cartoon characters' skeletal structures. Bill Watterson did a Calvin & Hobbes strip where Calvin turned into a x-ray, and in his 10th anniversary retrospective, he noted that Calvin's proportions make for an unusual skeleton. So do Hello Kitty's.
I appear to have accidentally subscribed to Real Simple. I think I was looking for a recipe or something. Not only did they send me a free issue, they've already sent me a bill for thirty bucks. I am now locked in combat with their customer service department. This ought to be fun. Meanwhile, Cingular's customer service has taken over the fight from AT&T to try and extract $60 from me for a month during which AT&T was my provider for about four days (I switched over to Sprint before moving because AT&T's service in my new neighborhood was crap). I know there's no way to beat them on that one, but at least I'm making them exert some effort in getting their money from me.
I didn't even notice that Ron was wearing his (my) Bright Eyes shirt for yesterday's strip. (I swear Ron is not meant to be me, but the evidence to the contrary is overwhelming.) I believe that the two new Bright Eyes albums I pre-ordered for part of 2.0's Christmas gift should be getting here today. This would be a maddening coincidence.
My buddy and Five Bucker Sanjeev is leaving the country to live in France this weekend. Sanjeev is a great rarity: a co-worker I not only tolerate the presence of, but actually enjoy having around. He is also the center fielder for our softball team, and I am going to be the manager this year. Replacing a reliable glove and good bat is going to be tough, picking from the dregs we have around this place. His going-away happy hour is tonight. This is a problem. Lost is on tonight. Friendship and camaraderie is one thing - seeing what Locke and Boone found in the jungle is another entirely. The co-worker organizing the event and I have decided to buy Sanjeev 20 shots in the first half-hour, end the happy hour (and presumably Sanjeev's life) by 6:30, go home, and watch Lost. Much better plan.
Outgoing douchebag Tom Ridge uses my favorite stupid sports slogan for the benefit of the Department of Homeland Security, my favorite stupid useless branch of the government. Everyone's a winner in that situation!
Speaking of governmental stupidity, 2.0 and I are trucking down to Washington next week for the inaugurational protests. I haven't taken the time to really make our plans yet, but United for Peace and Justice will be up to stuff, and Michael Moore has a few protest guides on his site. The Billionaires for Bush will be partying down, too, although their shindigs are a little too swank for me.
I think this is enough.
