Comic for Wednesday, February 10, 2010

Posted: 7:25 am, Wednesday, February 10
Snow day in New York City! There's about an inch and a half, two inches on the ground out there, and the DOE has shut down, and Brooklyn College has shut down. So that's fun. I intend to celebrate by having a lot of coffee, reading, and drawing, all day long. This is a little precursor to having all of next week off for February break.
I'm listening to the NewsHour right now, and I just have to put it out there. If Sarah Palin somehow ever obtains the presidency, I am going to steal state secrets, give them to Iran and North Korea, and help usher the firestorm. I just can't fucking tolerate her voice. "How's that hopey-changey stuff workin' out for you?" Trying to fix the economy and healthcare with her around saying shit like that must be like trying to do astrophysics with someone making fun of you any time you need to use your eraser.
I've got bad news for Cris Collingsworth.
Lost was pretty awesome last night. It made sense and everything! SPOILER: Claire's gone native! Awesome. Glad to see ol' blondie back. She needs conditioner for her hair, though.
I really didn't get to pay very good attention to the Super Bowl ads the other day, because the party I was at was too chatty during the breaks, but I did kind of notice that they weren't very good. I didn't really notice how evidently sexist they were, outside of that one where the dudes were all talking about what they'd do for a Dodge Charger. Bummer, too, because I really like the design of the Charger. Anyway, Slate wonders if it's because of the unemployment levels of men.
OK, time to kick back and chillax! Sorry if you all have to work or something today.

Bullfrog -- Wednesday, February 10 2010, 07:25 am Big Lost theory right here.

I usually don't read the theories, but this one seems pretty accurate for some reason.
Bullfrog -- Wednesday, February 10 2010, 07:52 am One of my buddies at school was an Army medic over in Iraq. I told him that the AV Club taste tested MREs recently, and he said, entirely straight-faced, that he loved MREs. I think he may be a bit weird.

Bullfrog -- Wednesday, February 10 2010, 07:55 am Of all the grim comparisons I've ever seen of the Senate to something horrible, comparing the Senate to the 18th-century Polish legislature is probably the grimmest.

Bullfrog -- Wednesday, February 10 2010, 08:04 am I think John Allison needs to do a comic about comic-making, kind of like Curb Your Enthusiasm or something, where (at least in the early episodes I've seen) Larry is supposedly a producer still. This hourly comic thing was great.

I would love to have my shit together enough to be able to sketch out all the hilarity that happens to me in a given day, and also to not have to worry about the potential illegality of doing so.
e -- Wednesday, February 10 2010, 08:41 am You can thank us for sharing some of our snow...
Bullfrog -- Wednesday, February 10 2010, 10:21 am I just read about this in New York mag, Axe Cop, a deliriously awesome comic written by a five-year old and drawn by his brother. Axes! Cops! Dinosaurs!

Bullfrog -- Wednesday, February 10 2010, 12:44 pm Slate hates this season of Lost.

hey man -- Wednesday, February 10 2010, 01:00 pm Oh crap it's a Jesuit school now? What are all the CSCs gonna do now?
Bullfrog -- Wednesday, February 10 2010, 02:18 pm Because it's been there staring at me in iTunes for about a month now, I'm listening to the All Songs Considered Christmas episode. Yes, I'm listening to Christmas music on February 10th. Whatever, shut up. It's actually quite nice, with the snow falling and Bob, Carrie, Robin and Stephen Thompson all making fun of each other. Brilliant.
ad -- Wednesday, February 10 2010, 03:09 pm My husband also loves MREs. He said it takes at least 4 or 5 days for them to wear thin. He'll also be happy to hear that you've found Axe Cop. Have you watched the video where the kid it telling the story while his brother storyboards? It is wonderful-- I love the way a 5-year-old's brain works.
And I love the eraser line-- I'm probably going to steal it at some point. Hope you continue to enjoy your snow day.
Bullfrog -- Wednesday, February 10 2010, 04:11 pm I only just read CK's link to the Dante's Inferno game. I'm fascinated that the header video game reviews get in the Times is that of 'Television.'
drolett -- Thursday, February 11 2010, 02:20 pm thank you - axe cop is awesome! although, my judgment is a bit off, as this is our 4th snow day and i'm getting a bit stir crazy. i started watching the maury povich baby daddy show.
Coach -- Thursday, February 11 2010, 09:17 pm How can anyone hate Lost with Mac on this season?!?
Bullfrog -- Thursday, February 11 2010, 09:46 pm If someone gets fork-stabbed on Lost, I will explode with happiness.
