As always, the morning after sucks.

Posted: 6:31 am, Monday, October 12

Happy anniversary to me and 2.0! Two years ago right now, she was getting done not sleeping a minute of the night, and I was wondering if my three of my groomsmen had survived the night. Good times!

Well, at least I don't have to watch a minute of Fox playoff coverage this year, so I guess that's something. I missed, entirely, the game yesterday because we were driving back from Ithaca as it was going down. Yet another very nice wedding, and I can finally say I've seen Ithaca. I didn't get onto Cornell's campus, but I've always heard legends of how gorgeous the area was. The area was, in fact, naturally very beautiful. Town? Kind of dumpy. I did get a roast beef sammich with approximately fourteen gallons of gravy on it, though, so there's that.

My kids had to get me in a bunch of poetry projects over the weekend, and so far, they're not terrible. Two kids plagiarized, which saves me the trouble of grading their poems (thankfully, they also put the plagiarized poems right on top, so I didn't have to wade through nine to get to the ripped-off one), and one kid has written about the vampires in Twilight, but by and by, they're pretty enjoyable. Two kids have written poems violently - and I mean violently - opposed to Bloomberg's prospective third term. I find this curious. I mean, yeah, I have massive reservations against mayor-for-life, and I've never voted for Bloomy and probably won't this time either, but I also don't want him carved up and served on plastic dishes.

Two wild and crazy Nintendo mods. That second one is awesome.

The awesome photo series I teased on Friday will, in fact, occur on Wednesday. Because on my day off, I have about 250 poems to read and grade, and a paper on fuck knows what to write. (Feminism? Deconstruction? Freudianism? The possibilities are endless!)

My brother lives in Ithaca. Has neither confirmed nor denied he's dating a Cornell junior straight out of Japan. (And I wish he'd admit he is. He doesn't get how attractive having a $300K+/year income is to a single woman. No, I'm not jealous.) The finger lakes area is fabulous area to visit, but agree that Ithaca itself is a rather blah kind of a college town. (And as college towns go, this is a bad thing.)

Poets my students have plagiarized: John Keats, Robert Frost, Marshall Mathers.

aunt Jo Anne -- Monday, October 12 2009, 10:40 am

Happy Anniversary! Your wedding was beautiful AND a blast. Just Awesome.

Ted's Head -- Monday, October 12 2009, 04:01 pm

Marshall Mathers as in Eminem Marshall Mathers? That's excellent. No Christopher Wallace yet? Maybe they're too young.

Ithaca is gorges. Haha. That one always cracked me up. My sis went to Cornell and I must admit, it does have a lovely campus and collegetown is quite hipsteriffic.

Instead of grading, I simply wrote the track title, album title, year released, and record label.

Biggie is actually phenomenally popular, still. My juniors were, like, three when he died, too. He's basically the poet laureate of Brooklyn.

Congratulations on 2 years! From somebody who has, oh, let's just say a few years more than that.

If you happen to go that way again-- Watkins Glen state park is fun, the glass museum in Corning is way better than you'd think, and the Bully Hill winery has a very good lunch place.

Bullfrog -- Monday, October 12 2009, 08:00 pm

I used to have an ad for Corning glass from a magazine that had a frog clinging to the glass... There was some frog prince analogy going on, but I don't remember how they phrased it.

Thanks for the well-wishing, man. We're hoping we get to celebrate Year Three more awesomely than Two, because I spent the day writing a paper on deconstruction, and 2.0 spent the day making a website.

Bullfrog -- Monday, October 12 2009, 08:00 pm

For class. Not because we hate each other.

Secretary -- Tuesday, October 13 2009, 08:16 am
