Finally getting to do some fun layout stuff.

Posted: 8:20 am, Wednesday, July 15th

I've been forgetting to do this for over a week, now, and I really need to get it out there. The photo of my dad was taken (expertly) by Andrew Huth, a good friend of mine who took the pictures at our wedding back in '07. Andrew is an awesome photographer who really gets to the heart of his subjects - he's very good at capturing the core of a person's personality. I've been meaning to attribute that photo ever since I posted it. Now I can rest easy. Easily.

Has anyone flown in or out of JFK lately? There is a bizarre, giant, Soviet-like statue of a hand holding a Samsung phone at the entryway right now. Picture here, but you really can't capture the bizarreness of the image without seeing it in person. This hand is at least thirty feet tall.

Great article on Tim Wakefield, who played in his first-ever All-Star Game last night. Whenever 2.0 tells me that I'll never play in the majors (this doesn't happen very often), I can always look to Tim Wakefield for inspiration.

I love flowcharts. Here's one on D&D and... something, and here's one about what to say during sex.

Passive-aggressive Facebook wedding notes.

Through no fault of my own, I learned the other day that Jennifer Love Hewitt was in Sister Act 2. Subtitle, "Back in the Habit."

Someone tell me how I feel about this. I think it could go terribly wrong.

51 got quoted in New York magazine's writeup of the Harry Potter premiere the other day. I'm seeing it tomorrow night. This review had me at "one set of sallow Brits battles another even sallower." I AM ALL IN.

I think we're almost here.

Nice article on Wakefield. I used to despise him. Now I despise him a little less. Do you think he would help our softball team?

I think you like the District 9 trailer. Looks like a cross between Starship Troopers meets 28 Days Later meets Biko.

I believe I auditioned for Sister Act 2. I sang "See You in September" for my audition piece.

Ondy -- Wednesday, July 15 2009, 10:42 am

District 9 looks cool enough that I don't want to watch any more trailers or previews for it.

Bullfrog -- Wednesday, July 15 2009, 11:11 am

That is awesome, Tree. You could've been awkward around Jennifer Love Hewitt.

I clearly wrote this post before Maddon decided not to play the 42-year old making his first All-star appearance. Fuck you, Tampa Bay.

Bullfrog -- Wednesday, July 15 2009, 11:23 am

Hilarious.

Red Sox Nation has truly been shamed! Lo, our rightful models have once again re-established their order in the univ - sorry, the *Yankee* Universe!

drolett -- Wednesday, July 15 2009, 01:10 pm

is that a young michael imperioli in sister act 2?

Ted's Head -- Wednesday, July 15 2009, 04:06 pm

ugh. "Yankee Universe". how embarassing. so lame. when i read this it was like as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. or maybe alderaan blew up again.

Miyaa -- Wednesday, July 15 2009, 09:58 pm

Does that make A-Rod a Red Giant? Stenbrenner a black hole? And the current Yankee's skipper Pluto?

Cami -- Thursday, July 16 2009, 12:56 am

have you ever seen a picture of the statue of the horse at denver international airport? http://www.denverpost.com/ci_8234829

if you drive by it at the right angle, it's eyes glow bright red. i always imagine it is staring deeply into my soul, commanding me to do great evil unto others.

stupid public works projects

Bullfrog -- Thursday, July 16 2009, 09:25 am

Whoa, that is freaky. I've only been to Denver in 2000, so, no, that was new to me.

Joe B -- Thursday, July 16 2009, 12:13 pm

Well, this comment is late coming, but nice comic today! I like the huge at bat panel, and it's funny how you didn't "see" Ron hitting a huge Lissa in the head with the bat. Put something here about art and perception, whatever...

No crying in baseball, no kissing in softball. Got it.
