How to make a good drink.

Posted: 6:55 am, Wednesday, July 8th

Thanks so much to everyone who left a comment or hit the e-mail button in response to my post about Dad the last few days. It was nice to know that what I wrote resonated with people. As you can see, I'm kind of still in that mode of thinking - which I hope you all find understandable - even as I get back to the strip. Any smokers in the house, please stop. I'm not sure if it was the cigarettes that got Dad (as I said, it had been 40 years since he kicked 'em), but what we saw last weekend was pretty horrible, and there's no reason to put yourself through that.

Was this my Dad's reciple for a gin and tonic? I have no idea. I know for sure about ice to the brim, and for some reason they usually didn't have limes on hand at the house, but the one part, two parts? No clue for sure.

A quick slew of links, these two pages made me feel better about the shit-ton of money that the (apparent) shitfest Transformers 2 has made the past few weeks.

Here's some baseball readin' to do over the summer, good and bad.

I don't even think these *are* the 10 awesomest non-Spock things that Leonard Nimoy has done, but they are pretty awesome. I had no idea he was Galvatron.

It's been rendered a bit moot thanks to her bizarre decision to quit midway through her first term, but the Vanity Fair article on Sarah Palin - while epicly long - is just amazing. Highly, highly recommended. Slate and the AV Club try to figure that chick the fuck out, and it doesn't really work, because who the hell knows what's going on in that head?

2.0 and I head upstate today for the wake tomorrow and the funeral on Friday. Lord only knows what the site will look like on Friday, but by Monday, we ought to be back to some semblance of normalcy.

You are fortunate to have beautiful memories of your Dad. He was a wonderful special person, and I am so sorry for your loss. My sincere sympathy to you, your Mom and Meredith. I love you============ Grandma

This is quite funny. 2.0 and I do not play Scrabble together because of a rather unfortunate incident that occurred on her birthday a few years back.

The last few times I had to say goodbye to someone, I had NO f'n' desire to stick to schedule. If Friday's a pass, so be it; I think I can safely say that most of us will understand and keep you in our thoughts if there's no strip or links that day.

Bullfrog, I'm terribly sorry to hear the news about your father. I have so many memories hanging out with you and your father growing up. You, your mother, and all of your family are in my prayers.
