Sorry, I know, this will make you scroll left to right again, and that's a big ol' pain in the ass. I'll have you know that there seems to be some debate as to where the actual world's largest ball of twine resides. Out of respect for Tree, I went with Cawker City over Darwin, Minnesota. And certainly over those disreputables over in Lowfield.
The Times lets us know that everyone's to blame for the debt, but, uh, mostly Shitwit.
I - what - how?
Pelham 123 opens tomorrow. I saw the preview back when we caught Duplicity, and the control room that the MTA on film was the tip-off that this was going to be one shitty movie. (That and John Travolta's presence. The man did, after all, kill Rolling Stone.) But this paragraph from Slate's write-up really cements it.
...the brazen crime that unfolds before him hasn't changed much since 1974. Four heavily armed men hijack a southbound 6 train—the titular Pelham 123, so called because it originated at the Pelham Bay Park Station at 1:23 p.m.—and hold 19 hostages for ransom. Only this time they're asking for $10 million. And they have a Wi-Fi connection.
Yep, a Wi-Fi connection.
I'm watching a little recap of last night's game at Fenway, and there was a clip from MLB network's studio show (which is quite good). They cut over to Barry Larkin, who is identified as "4th pick in 1985 draft." That amused me. (I'm reading the Post right now, who can't even get the old Mystique and Aura joke right, referring to Mystic and Aura. God, that paper sucks. An example from yesterday.)
Someone who's had the time to pay attention (seriously, I'm so out of it with the news - what, there's some shenanigans up in Albany right now, right?), even if this election in Iran goes to the not-insane guy, things probably won't change massively, right? It's the clerics that have most of the power over there?
Today is the second-to-last day of school, and since it's insane to assume too many kids will show up on Monday for just one day of class after they all know that our grades are due in on Monday morning, the last day I assume I'll see most of my kids. The giddy feeling from two weeks ago has been replaced by the feeling of being pounded on for two straight weeks. The kids have gotten completely insane, the orders from above have stopped resembling logic of any sort... C'mon, Regents week.
As I have readers of both the Penguins and the Wins variety, let's go out and have a clean game tonight. The Wings win too much, so I like the Pens, but Detroit loses too much, so I like the Wings. Way to take a stance, huh?

Bullfrog -- Friday, June 12 2009, 06:41 am Geez, I forgot to mention that the Celestial Seasonings plant was actually kind of awesome, and that I am gently teasing CK in that panel.
skt -- Friday, June 12 2009, 07:15 am awesome!
Bullfrog -- Friday, June 12 2009, 08:22 am Thanks. This came out way better than I thought it might.
MJL -- Friday, June 12 2009, 09:44 am Wow. WOW.

CK -- Friday, June 12 2009, 09:50 am Hooray for the Celestial Seasonings plant! Just the other day I was telling someone about the strength of the smell in the peppermint room -- how it felt like I walked into a brick wall of peppermint and was about to be knocked out.
CK -- Friday, June 12 2009, 09:56 am Also, check out this wedding cake: http://www.flickr.com/photos/snotboogie/sets/72157619459505191/
As someone says in the comments, "That is 1.21 Gigawatts of awesome."
CK -- Friday, June 12 2009, 10:32 am (All of the above written while sipping Celestial Seasonings white tea with pear.)
Bullfrog -- Friday, June 12 2009, 11:20 am Huh, I thought we went to Boulder another time.
That peppermint room was astounding.
Coach -- Friday, June 12 2009, 12:14 pm The Pens?! The Pens!? Have you no shame, sir?
Bullfrog -- Friday, June 12 2009, 01:28 pm I'd love to know what asinine reason you have to dislike the Penguins. Have they somehow negatively influenced the Devils' fortunes in the past?
Bullfrog -- Friday, June 12 2009, 01:42 pm GI Joe got the lowest audience test score in the history of Paramount. And yet my kids are convinced it will be hot.

Ted's Head -- Friday, June 12 2009, 02:13 pm Sidney Crosby is the only reason you need to hate the Pens. He's too good to be such a baby. Go Wings!
ad -- Friday, June 12 2009, 02:36 pm Love the strip today.
Joe B -- Friday, June 12 2009, 03:10 pm Those are pretty much places I would stop at. I didn't know where Carhenge was, but since I've seen the stone one, if I was within a hundred miles or so, how could I not check it?
Coach -- Friday, June 12 2009, 05:51 pm Yup, Ted's Head understands... Sydney Crosby. The biggest whiner in the NHL. ESPN surveyed NHL Players about various issues and for most of the questions, the results were fairly split without any clear distinctions in the voting expect for one category. That category was biggest complainer. Sydney Crosby won in a landslide. It was 52%-8%. I also can't stand how he is the face of the league when he isn't the best player on his team. He is Adam Oates with a better scoring touch.
Miyaa -- Friday, June 12 2009, 05:55 pm I'm just slightly disappointed Ron & Jen didn't have a Las Vegas adventure.
todd -- Friday, June 12 2009, 06:22 pm Am I the only one who tried to click on the google maps pins?
Bullfrog -- Friday, June 12 2009, 06:44 pm "He is Adam Oates with a better scoring touch."
Seriously, you might as well be speaking Mandarin.
Coach -- Friday, June 12 2009, 08:42 pm I'll speak Red Sox-ese for you. He is more overrated than Derek Jeter.
Bullfrog -- Saturday, June 13 2009, 12:34 pm Ohhhhhhhh! Why didn't you just say so?!
Bullfrog -- Sunday, June 14 2009, 08:25 pm There is some crazy shit going down in Iran right now.
