On the road again.

Posted: 6:40 am, Friday, June 5th

Quick turnaround in LA.

Yesterday was Brooklyn-Queens Day, which meant that I had PD all day and the kids had a day off on the second-to-last Thursday of the year, which means that they'll all treat themselves to a four-day weekend today, which makes sense, because they've worked *so* hard during the year. Actually, I'm reading some of their poetry projects right now, and they're actually fantastic. Still, come to school, kids.

Speaking of teaching, I don't think I could teach at this school.

What else? Not a ton. My Shakespeare class shaped up a bit on Wednesday, which is nice. I played softball with some of the teachers from my school after PD yesterday. The school downstairs from us whupped us, but it was 10-8 us going into the bottom of the sixth, when the floor fell out. I hit like crap, but fielded well, which is generally how it goes with me. It's kind of fun playing on a flat outfield without another team's center fielder staring me in the face.

Um, yeah, so I guess that's it. Sorry, you know how Friday is on the blog. Sorry to say that the Wednesday edition may suck for a week or two, also. Two two-and-a-half hour classes on Tuesday and Wednesday nights really kills my weekend. Thankfully, I'm taking two classes in the fall, also. Whoo.

When men say good-bye, even if it takes driving across country to do so, it takes about a hour tops. Women take about two weeks after they get there before they're done saying good-bye. I'm not saying, I'm just saying.

2.0 -- Friday, June 5 2009, 09:59 am

I don't know. Saying goodbye is not something I like to spend a lot of time on. In fact, I hate the very idea even when it's a goodbye to someone I don't particularly care for.

I need examples of this theory Miyaa. In what way to women take two weeks saying goodbye?

Bullfrog -- Friday, June 5 2009, 01:15 pm

I know that this one girl I teach with can never say good-bye. I have learned this by waiting for her to leave the building a few times, and I have regretted it each and every time.

I'm with Jen-- that was it? I was wondering whether Ron would tell Mara who it is that he's with now, and what her reaction would be.

I have to admit though I like the idea of a last meeting. I had a thing once where a girl and I just sort of stopped seeing each other without really saying goodbye, and I regret that. We knew it was going nowhere, and I don't want her back. I just regret not having the chance to say a few nice things before we closed the book.

Then again, following Miyaa's theory, being a guy I guess if I had had the chance, I'd have said, "Well, we had some times, huh? Buh bye!". Surgical strike, over and out, move on, nothing to see here. Oh man, that probably is what I would have done. Is that all I'm regretting? The things we waste time thinking about...

Is Jen driving at all?

As this board as some bad baseball team fans on it, I am wondering if anyone here is a Pirates fan because your team is an utter joke!

Bullfrog -- Friday, June 5 2009, 06:52 pm

Jen can't drive a stick, as established last year during the whole Foxwoods-Providence-Ted's a tool story. And I guess Ron and Mara already kind of sussed out the details during that one phone conversation... three months ago? God, three days a week are killing me.

Miyaa -- Friday, June 5 2009, 07:28 pm

I'm saying that most girls want to remember the good-bye. Guys, when they're done. They're done. Unless it's a really painful post-season loss.

And of course, your mileages may vary.

Noxx -- Friday, June 5 2009, 10:35 pm

My suspension of disbelief is gone.

Not because of Mara mind you, but how can you drive all the way to L.A. and not go to Canters?

Bullfrog -- Saturday, June 6 2009, 01:59 am

Largely because of my ignorance ('til now) of Canter's, but I suppose it would hold less attraction for Ron and Jen because of Katz's, the now-defunct 2nd Ave Deli, and the Carnegie Deli. I mean, oy, you want to be talking corned beef?

Pink's, for god's sake. Let them at least get hot dogs!
