Comic for Friday, May 15, 2009

I dunno, just talkin' here, I guess, not judgin'. Much.
2.0, for some reason, was playing Bejeweled last week, and this has kind of destroyed my life. I'm playing the damn thing all the time now. Hopefully one of 1up's 101 free games on the web will capture my fancy and break me from the viscious cycle of trying to build hyper gems. I don't think it will work, though, because I can feel myself thinking about purple triangles right now.
Nothin' like reading about the Big Lebowski on a Friday.
It's a Friday, because I'm completely out of gas in the tank and fodder for the blog. I'm down to the final 20 days of class, and, baby, I am getting excited. I have to try and do Romeo and Juliet in the next four weeks, and I am going to hack and slash the hell out of that play. I don't mean it, William, please don't hold it against me.

Coach -- Friday, May 15 2009, 12:30 pm Sometimes I dislike reactionary liberalism as much as I dislike red blooded conservatism...
The fact someone believes abortion should be illegal shouldn't make them an idiot. I personally believe that abortion should be "safe, legal and rare", but I can understand how one can believe that we should live in a society free from abortion. It is a complex issue to say the least.
Bullfrog -- Friday, May 15 2009, 01:18 pm I didn't think I was portraying Ron as reactionarily liberal. I guess I should've had other issues discussed, also. Next time, I guess.
2.0 -- Friday, May 15 2009, 02:07 pm I agree with "safe, legal and rare," but I also don't know too may pro-choicers who would advocate for "safe, legal and common" I think both sides of this argument agree that abortion--and unplanned pregnancies generally--are something society should discourage.
The problem at Notre Dame, and what I think Ron and Jen are upset about, is that this is a single issue defined under the umbrella phrase "culture of life." Unfortunately, I think too many people get hung up on dead babies, and fail to see all the other ways our "culture of life" has be damaged. What of torture, war, and poverty? What of veterans benefits, eroding pension plans, and Wall Street tomfoolery? Where were the protests over our mission unacomplished? What about Katrina? Protesting a President who has been left with a huge clusterfuck of a nation by the exiting Republican party, seems...lame and shortsighted.
I have to say though, I approve of this more than all the protests over football coaches that go on at Notre Dame. At least we're talking about an actual issue here.
Bullfrog -- Friday, May 15 2009, 02:59 pm Man, Tyrone fucking sucked.
Coach -- Friday, May 15 2009, 03:48 pm I was thinking of Jen from Wednesday.... I've been busy with other horrible things the last few days, so I didn't have time to post...
As Notre Dame is a Catholic institution, it would probably see itself not in line with GOP policies for poverty, war, yada yada. Honestly, I didn't even know( or even care) about this being an actual issue at ND. The only protest my school ever did was throw a pie at the face of a Israeli diplomat. (enter DFFD with a Jersey Trash comment)
DFFD -- Friday, May 15 2009, 05:44 pm I thought it was implied...
2.0 -- Friday, May 15 2009, 05:48 pm All I am saying is, if the Catholic university of Notre Dame was so concerned with life issues, then they should have protested the last President's wars. Life is life...at least that was the impression I got from my years in bible school.
