Comic for Friday, May 1, 2009

Posted: 6:25 am, Friday, May 1st
You can tell it's a Friday because there's virtually nothing in the post, becasue I'm dragging my ass so bad. Man, I am exhausted. It's funny, I feel like I'm doing great lately, but I'm zonked fairly constantly. Yesterday wasn't particularly strong, but it's kind of the exception these days.
Brutal Legend continues to look awesome. I am very pleased with this news.
Oh, boy, an upcoming Supreme Court vacancy. No way that can't be interesting.
All the kids have been clamoring for school to close to keep us safe from the swine flu this week. Anyone coughs? They have the swine flu. Need a quick laugh? Mention the swine flu in any context. There hasn't been a punchline this dependable since.. Geez, I dunno. My freshmen like the money you could be saving with Geico, for some reason. I guess I'll go with that.
This NY Times series looks kind of interesting.
Alright, have an awesome weekend.

Noxx -- Friday, May 1 2009, 08:31 am I guess I'll say it again. It seems pretty out of character for Lissa to let this go off with setting Jen straight. Unnaturally passive.
Also, when you have two drivers in their twenties, what's this "stopping for the night" they speak of?
Ondy -- Friday, May 1 2009, 09:25 am Hoping the Wolfie reference isn't just a teaser.
Wood -- Friday, May 1 2009, 09:43 am I second Noxx. Driving needs to be done until you almost fall asleep at hit the rumble strip / dirt on the side of the road and wake the person next to you. Then rotate. repeat
Bullfrog -- Friday, May 1 2009, 09:45 am I guess Jen can't drive a stickshift?
Ted's Head -- Friday, May 1 2009, 09:49 am I really like the comic today. From impatience, to confusion, to horror, to fury...can't wait to see what's next.
I started listening to that NY Times series and I think it's great! Started with the old timers - the druggist, the barber, and the mozzarella cheese maker - nothing like old time NYers. I love how the cheese maker refers to the country "Italy" as "It-lee". Three of my four grandparents grew up in Brooklyn and they all said it that way too. (Incidentally, my fourth grandparent grew up in Italy and moved to Brooklyn, at then end of WWII.)
Bullfrog -- Friday, May 1 2009, 10:23 am Glad you liked it - hey, somebody shoot me a text or phone call immediately if the game gets canceled.
Coach -- Friday, May 1 2009, 12:12 pm Since Ted Head's is a bitch, he is not playing today. If anyone in this world can play softball today, feel free to join the team. I mean anyone... one armed man, people with swine flu or even midgets

Joe B -- Friday, May 1 2009, 03:45 pm Noxx, I think Lissa is marking her territory very clearly! And is she actually looking at Jen in the last panel?
Google maps gives New York to Chicago as 13 hours of driving, and they've got to stop a few times, so maybe 15 hours elapsed time. Save some for day 2, right? It's 40 hours more of driving to various places in California. At this rate they can do it in 4 days. Unless stuff happens.
MJL -- Friday, May 1 2009, 05:36 pm They'd pass ND on I-80 enroute to Chicago.
2.0 -- Saturday, May 2 2009, 11:00 am I don't think Lissa needs to worry about Jen. From my perspective, if you're worried about a guy cheating on you then you're with the wrong guy.
Noxx -- Sunday, May 3 2009, 11:24 am I think you're right Joe, I didn't catch the eyebrow in the last panel.
