Makin' out all over!

Posted: 8:25 am, Friday, April 17th

A random assortment of links for you this Friday. By the way, in the past two weeks, it has been the birthday of TeaVee, my pop, Princess Di, 51, and, today, RAW. My apologies for lousy birthday wishes. Also, the Goat Fuckers and Mets have both opened massively taxpayer-funded stadia with losses. Too bad for the Mets, burn in hell for the Goat Fuckers.

Captain's Dead is no doubt going to have some awesome stuff up today, because he's doing 24 posts in 24 hours. Keep your laptops ready for downloadin'!

Billy Corgan, having whored out the good-will capital from Siamese Dream, has moved on to Mellon Collie. Next up: The Aeroplane Flies High box set!

Ugh. Billy, why? Anyway, let's talk about a douchebag I hate instead of one that I used to be utterly devoted to (oh, what, everyone's devoted to a band growing up) - the Onion just *nails* Michael Bay in this article. There used to be a blogspot blog of someone pretending to be Michael Bay that was just brilliant, but it got taken down rather quickly. Good times.

I just like the name brand of the belt in this Medium Large... And, related, here is the AV Club's review of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. They give it an A. Speaking of good books, 51 loaned me Here Be Dragons recently, and I tore right on through it. It was a really imaginative account of Wales from 1190-1230 or so, full of weird political intrigue (anything can be solved by marrying off a daughter!), and no dragons whatsoever (apparently, that's what cartographers used to say when they just didn't know what was over yon mountain range). Very long, but highly recommended.

When next I update, I'll be getting on the subway to go to work. Blah, what happened to my extra-long break? I'll tell you later.

I haven't read this whole review yet, but I scrolled to the bottom where it says, "It's fucking great." Truer words cannot be spoken. If you haven't read Ball Four yet (wife!), you really need to.

This is a brilliant idea that I am now 10 years too old to implement.

With just a slight departure from the beer staff link, I'll mention that there are just 40 spots left:

Welcome to the AL East Brad Penny.

I love Sharon Kay Penman! Do you know that Here Be Dragons is the first in a trilogy? The two that come after are Falls the Shadow and The Reckoning. All are very historically rich. I've also read some of her mystery series. I would stay away from When Christ and his Saints Slept. I tried finishing that thing for months and finally gave up. I here that Sunne in Splendor is good but I've not yet read it. Yay books!

Bullfrog -- Friday, April 17 2009, 09:19 pm

I see Jeremy Guthrie has not changed.

Bullfrog -- Friday, April 17 2009, 09:21 pm

I'm aware of the trilogy, but will probably not attempt the second two books until the summer, so that I can actually try and do my job. 51 says that Falls the Shadow is her favorite of the three.

Yay, books!

DFFD -- Saturday, April 18 2009, 07:38 pm

Jeremy Guthrie has not changed in what sense? I'm not sure I follow...

Bullfrog -- Saturday, April 18 2009, 09:50 pm

He still blows. It was a not-very-good comeback. God.

DFFD -- Sunday, April 19 2009, 01:03 am

Yeah that's what I was alluding to. The O's pitching truly is pathetic though.

Bullfrog -- Sunday, April 19 2009, 08:22 am

Could be worse. You could have Wang.
