Comic for Monday, March 30, 2009

Posted: 6:35 am, Monday, March 30th
I slept for twelve hours Friday night. Dear God, did I need that.
Really interesting article on the future of the American city in the Times yesterday. (By the way, might be worth subscribing to the Times soon...) My own American city is looking to get whaled on with subway fees soon, boooooo. Fight the power, New Yorkers.
Get all that nastiness out mind with a nice blog on crayons. Ahhh, crayons.
Oh, man, one week 'til the Sox pick up where they left off, facing the Devil Rays. Hopefully, Tampa went back to having no idea how to play baseball over the off-season. By the way, it makes no sense for both clubs to leave Florida to play in the likely frigid early April Beantown weather. Speaking of excitement, EIGHT DAYS 'til spring break. WHOOOO. Why is there no widget counting down to the Sox (Sox's) first pitch? That's lame.
My bracket: What bracket?
I need to get a move-on. YA books on the docket for the week: The Outsiders and Holes. I remember not caring much for the Outsiders when I was a kid, but all my kids who have already read it absolutely love it. I read two Gary Soto books, both meh, over the weekend for my kids' lit circles. They're OK, but kind of uninteresting. They're for our lower-level readers, so let that be a lesson for you: Read on grade level, or read lame books.

Joe B -- Monday, March 30 2009, 11:43 am Hey Cutie? So they worked it out! Even Ted's Head will be happy now. I wonder if Lissa ever said that to anybody before.
It's almost like they're in my house at my New York books bookcase. Forgotten NY is a good choice.
Noxx -- Monday, March 30 2009, 11:52 am Some scale issues working Liss in the last panel there? She looks a bit like a creepy 7/8 version of herself.
I made the mistake of introducing my wife to $5, she hogged the computer all weekend reading the archives. Webcomic adultery I say!
Ted's Head -- Monday, March 30 2009, 01:15 pm I am not quite happy, but definitely less angry.
I now curious how this is going to pan out - the tension from Jen and also how long can this relationship last? Is the first fight coming up? Is the guy going to be totally whipped? Will someone die?
Joe B -- Monday, March 30 2009, 09:15 pm Oh Mr Head, now you're just bringing us down. On a more positive note, I can report that Kevin Walsh was happy to know his Forgotten NY book was shown prominently! Thanks Bullfrog. Even if, judging by colors, Ron actually picked up New York St --what is that one? The AIA Guide, I've got in two editions. I can't make out the title of the green one either.
Bullfrog -- Monday, March 30 2009, 11:41 pm New York Stories is the best of the City Desk from the NY Times - although it's actually about the eighth-best NY book I've bought in the past few years. It has a great profile of Sonny Payne and that's about it. Greenopia NY is like Zagat's, but all green-friendly. The orange book is the (dated) AIA third edition, because I wasn't really thinking about what would actually be on a book seller's shelf, and I fucking love Forgotten NY. I linked to it a long time ago, and own the book myself - I thought it was on the sidebar, but I guess I'm mistaken. I'll add it next time I'm doing housekeeping.
Bullfrog -- Monday, March 30 2009, 11:42 pm And, yeah, Lissa's a bit out of scale. But when I had her normal-sized, that looked even weirder.
Coach -- Tuesday, March 31 2009, 10:47 am Why are people so happy!? An unhappy plot lines makes a story more interesting... I don't want romance and love. If I am looking for that, I'd read Nicholas Sparks! Let's have Jen go postal... I want her curled up in the bathtub crying here eyeballs out holding a picture of Ron in one hand and a razor blade in the other.
I'll take that or a couple of dick jokes...
MNP -- Tuesday, March 31 2009, 01:12 pm Notre Dame vs. Penn State at 9pm on ESPN tonight... GO IRISH!
tree -- Tuesday, March 31 2009, 02:42 pm Bullfrog - make sure you check out the main editorial in today's Observer. It will delight you for many reasons, I'm sure.
Bullfrog -- Tuesday, March 31 2009, 09:17 pm I wasn't sure if it would be the author that it was, or perhaps 1.0. I also am happy to see that we still don't guarantee nondiscrimination for los gayos.
Bullfrog -- Tuesday, March 31 2009, 09:32 pm I have never seen a team crumple under pressure like the '08-'09 Irish hoops team.
