Comic for Friday, March 27, 2009

Posted: 6:35 am, Friday, March 27th
Like the alt message reads, I think this strip came out implying something entirely different from what I originally intended. Feel free to write in what you think the joke is down in the comments. Or, "joke," if you don't think much of my writing.
Apologies to Licia, but my annual tradition of rooting against Duke in the tourney is over once again. Even if it hadn't been Duke, I would've been rooting for Nova last night. 2.0 - who knows very little about college basketball and hates me watching it because of all the sneakers squeaking - also roots for Villanova, and we decided it's because we like the word, "Villanova." What is the deal with that? What does that word even mean? Googling, googling... Evidently, it's a change-up of a Spanish town, from whence St. Thomas of Villanueva came. Alrighty, then, mystery solved.
I had my second-ever parent-teacher night last night, and I was so tired when I woke up this morning that I had to reconstruct the evening, as if I had been out drinking. Thankfully, no lampshades were donned, or pants removed, as the parent-teacher night.
Just when you think things can't get more embarrassing at ND than the idiotic student and alumni population protesting Homeboy comin' to school, the Onion steps in and absolutely destroys us. (By the way, if Facebook's your thing, here's a group dedimicated to not being stupid about this. For fuck's sake, assholes welcomed Shitwit to campus eight years ago, and all he did was start an illegal war, shred the Constitution, and exacerbate the global financial crisis.)
Not everyone at AIG sucks. Obviously, but apparently reminders help. (Of course, now that dude has left AIG, so maybe everyone left does suck, who knows.)
Shit, I have to get a move-on.
Katamari PS3!
Good, because Noby Noby Boy makes no sense!
Absolutely bizarre 40-year old Virgin trailer, here!
I have shaved my chin, but retained my 'stache and the rest of my beard. Consider.

Regarding Shitwit, you forgot hasten global warming and fostering a disdain for science.
Bullfrog -- Friday, March 27 2009, 08:08 am Dear, I can't possibly encapsulate *all* of the man's failings in one blog post.
Bullfrog -- Friday, March 27 2009, 08:08 am Sorry, that should've read, "man."
ad -- Friday, March 27 2009, 08:53 am The trick with GW being invited-- it was May of 2001. He hadn't had time to really to do everything/anything. Which isn't to lessen, in any way, what he did end up doing (or failing to do). So, I suppose the advantage of inviting the pres right away is that ND can't really take responsibility for what they do in the remainder of their term.
But, yes, it is troubling that the conversation has been hijacked by a very narrow segment of the population and they attempt to speak for all ND alum or, gasp, all Catholics.
Licia -- Friday, March 27 2009, 09:38 am sadly (or maybe not so considering the outcome) I only managed to stay awake for the first 5 minutes or so. but apology accepted on condition that you root against UNC from here on!
Noxx -- Friday, March 27 2009, 10:43 am Sobriety sure can slow down a relationship eh? Seriously tho, the sudden change of boundaries can be pretty weird, it would seem unrealistic for Ron and Lissa to just slip into a relationship without any awkwardness.
Ted's Head -- Friday, March 27 2009, 10:50 am Yup, I'm angry again.
I don't know what the joke is. If i had to guess, it would be something completely disgusting that I wouldn't even feel comfortable writing on this site.
kttb -- Friday, March 27 2009, 11:14 am Are they thinking they should move to a country with national health care and free contraception?
2.0, I'm totally with you on the sneakers squeaking.
DFFD -- Friday, March 27 2009, 11:48 am Am I the only one who didn't find that AIG guy's letter all that convincing? Especially the part about this being akin to refusing to pay a plumber after he's fixed the pipe. Maybe I'm confused, but I'm not sure what he and his colleagues have "fixed" since the company continues to be on the brink of utter failure today...
I also don't know what all this "honorable service" crap is. You worked for a gigantic financial company and made a shitload of money for it. Not sure there was a whole lot of "honor" in it.
Don't get me wrong I think all the people ranting and raving about lynching the people who RECEIVED bonuses is absurd (who's going to turn down money?? and they didn't decide to pay themselves bonuses), but I just don't find his arguments very convincing.
Coach -- Friday, March 27 2009, 11:49 am Ted, what do ya think? Cleveland Steamer? Blumpkin? Chili Dog?!
Bullfrog -- Friday, March 27 2009, 11:57 am Coach, I wish I could banninate you.
Ted's Head -- Friday, March 27 2009, 12:03 pm Yeah, i was thinking something along those lines. Maybe a good ol donkey punch into a planet of the ape mask topped off by a cleveland steamer or dog in the bathtub.
And I agree with DFFD. Down with whitey!!
Coach -- Friday, March 27 2009, 12:05 pm Mildly funny AIG story. So, I was at the softball meeting a few weeks back and the commish said that AIG is playing softball this Spring, but they are self-financed. Some guy screamed from the back "Yeah, with their tax payer financed bonuses!"
DFFD -- Friday, March 27 2009, 12:08 pm No mention of a jelly doughnut or a dirty sanchez???
That's pretty funny about the softball meeting...
Coach -- Friday, March 27 2009, 12:17 pm Excellent point DFFD, I think it was the above combination that Ted, or as I lovingly call him THE KING, suggested finished off with the Sanchez. Isn't that the ultimate coup de grāce for an evening's activities?
Now come to think of it, I do notice a slight mark on Lissa's face. That is just nasty man!
-- Friday, March 27 2009, 12:19 pm Well I can't find a joke here, although the expected awkwardness might be a "joke" of some sort. I don't know how much brains it takes for Ron to determine that spending time with Lissa might be a better idea right about now than going off to drive 6,000 miles with somebody else! But he's Ron, isn't he?
Ted's Head, I think the strain of the past 2 comic days taking 2 months to play out is getting to you! I kind of know what you mean though.
Joe B -- Friday, March 27 2009, 12:20 pm Oops, that was me just above
2.0 -- Friday, March 27 2009, 01:26 pm ktbb: it's good to know I am not the only one.
Bullfrog -- Friday, March 27 2009, 02:00 pm Noxx got it - I was going for the awkwardness of trying to be intimate, sober, with someone who you'd hung out with every day of the past three years or however long it's been in strip time. After reviewing the final product, I wasn't sure if it came off more like equipment failure.
I apologize to everyone for my three ex-coworkers. They're almost out of the seventh grade.
DFFD -- Friday, March 27 2009, 03:00 pm Oh I'm so sorry we can't all be as mature as you and limit our conversation topics to BSG!
Non coworker new guy -- Friday, March 27 2009, 03:03 pm Maybe those seventh graders will like a video of a chimpanzee riding a segway:

DFFD -- Friday, March 27 2009, 03:07 pm I really like that song!
