Nothin' like a good holding.

Posted: 6:35 am, Monday, March 9th

So I didn't do a terrible lot this weekend, but it was in a splendid way. I was supposed to be in a class for six hours on Saturday, and then for the Saturday after that and after that and after that and after that, but it turns out that the dude who was supposed to sign me up for the class didn't, and the people teaching the class were being hardcore on you-have-to-be-signed-up. So through no fault of my own, my Saturdays in March are free. I'll miss the grand or so I would've been paid for that, but I will not miss being stuck inside as spring springs in the Apple. It was a lovely weekend here in Brooklyn, even if yesterday was actually quite overcast. Sixty? We haven't seen sixty in months. Goodness. I see we'll be dicking around in the mid-40s most of this coming week, but, whatever. I think I can retire my winter coat at least momentarily.

I'm glad most of you approved of and applauded Friday's strip. I'll keep tryin' to bring the quality. I've said it a few times, but this whole thing has really reinvigorated me.

Battlestar! Friday's episode was totally a bridge to the finale, but I still thought it was quite enjoyable. Lee's "Gaius Baltar?!" in response to one of the Quorum was one of my favorite lines in the series.

Back to making sense for the non-BSG fans.

Big ups to several of the Five Bucks friends and family this past weekend, although I think I'll sit on it for a few more days in case the phone calls haven't all been made yet. 2009 is relatively quiet on the weddings front, but 2010 looks like it's going to be a pain in the ass again. Why all my friends can't just die old and alone and save me some airfare is totally beyond me.

Two quick links - the Zeldamobile, for a mere $500, and Murray Chass, idiot. I'm listening to the This American Life on the rubber room right now as I post this. I'm still trying to figure out the guy who was on the job for a month and rubber roomed for four. Why not just fire him?

Just wanted to say the following, been a big fan of this strip over the years, from when I lived in northern NY state, to CT, to MN, but now I'm moving finally to NYC. Going to columbia for nursing grad school. Exciting to be able to live the life of a poor student/fresh out of school that is so well characterized in this strip.

Keep up the good work.

p.s. we all knew this would happen ever since her relative from the mets chatted with Ron "He thinks I mean in the lineup!"

MNP -- Monday, March 9 2009, 09:59 am

Pete so doesn't have any right to be pissed...Jen on the other hand...

Miyaa -- Monday, March 9 2009, 11:26 am

Eh, Jen and Pete will be okay. And hey, it maybe the only way to force Pete to find and pay for his own place now. (I don't normally make requests, but this really screams for a visit to Lissa's father.)

Joe B -- Monday, March 9 2009, 12:13 pm

It's a credit to Bullfrog that we feel we know these people well enough to have strong opinions on whether they're meant for each other. It's just fields of color and words on screen, but they have come to life.

That was Lissa's grandfather who liked Ron. I don't remember her parents appearing come to think of it.

Ondy -- Monday, March 9 2009, 12:49 pm

Adama's attempt at doing some painting was my favorite moment of the last Battlestar ep.

Bullfrog -- Monday, March 9 2009, 01:15 pm

I may be wrong, but I'm fairly certain I didn't introduce Lissa's parents... They're referenced, but I'm pretty sure only her grandfather and an elderly female relative were in the strip.

Miyaa -- Monday, March 9 2009, 05:38 pm

Yeah, I meant grandfather.

Noxx -- Monday, March 9 2009, 06:20 pm

Bleh, Jen doesn't have any business being upset either. You drop the ball enough times and someone else is going to pick it up. It seems a lot more natural to me that the two least crazy members of the cast would finally end up together.

Bullfrog -- Monday, March 9 2009, 11:49 pm

Goooooooo, Saints! My dad's alma mater clinched back-to-back tourney berths with a big W over Niagara in the MAAC final. More impressively, their star player had a nice article in the Gray Lady this morning.

Oh, man, awesome - Tom Morello and Boots Riley are jamming together these days.

Anyone see this from SNL - when Barack Obama gets angry, he turns into "The Rock" Obama.....

That's downright weird spam. I'm almost tempted to click.

MJL -- Tuesday, March 10 2009, 05:23 pm

OK, I totally take that back. It dawned on me that I might end up seeing something totally gross.
