Comic for Friday, March 6, 2009

Posted: 6:35 am, Friday, March 6th
OK, so there's still plenty of stuff I've left unresolved, but unlike Battlestar Galactica, I'm not trying to wrap it up in three episodes. (I'm also not auctioning off character's costumes, although you can buy most of Lissa's been wearing lately from Anthropologie's December '08 catalog. I'd assume much of it is still available.) I hope I've sated enough curiosity and yet left you guys something to discuss in the comments.
Alright, only a few minutes to type here, and not a ton to say today. I don't know why a four-day week of a relatively light schedule with the kids not being terribly bad was so draining to me, but, God, I am shot.
Watchmen comes out today, and I have no real plans to see it, although the reviews are generally not-so-shabby (except for Slate). I'm not sure what that has to do with this AV Club article on worst movie experiences, but, whatever, it's like six twenty-one in the morning. I don't have one movie experience that really stands out... I have to say I'd go with the woman who kept asking questions during Adaptation and after getting into the swing of it, started making predictions. And even that wasn't completely terrible, because I think she was German or something.
Kate Beaton is the hot comic-strippin' girl of the moment, and I am referring you to her collected Younger Self comics, which are just fantastic.
Clearly, I am not coming up with anything else. So I will leave it with this: Twitter. Is this something people actually do, or is it just the media's latest obsession du jour because of idiot Senators not paying attention to Homeboy's speech?

51 -- Friday, March 6 2009, 08:00 am Aww. Hooray - so sweet!
I have a twitter account, and I wish I didn't. It's really stupid. Really - I've yet to figure out that point of it. The only thing I like is that you can text in your tweets from your celly (which I can't do for status updates on facebook).
-- Friday, March 6 2009, 08:24 am Oustanding, that's exactly the scene that came to mind when you said this would reach some resolution by the end of the week. Great arc.
MNP -- Friday, March 6 2009, 08:37 am yay!
ktbb - - the hopeless romantic -- Friday, March 6 2009, 08:52 am SMOOCH!
CK -- Friday, March 6 2009, 09:38 am WOO-HOO!
2.0 -- Friday, March 6 2009, 09:48 am Pfew! I wasn't what the alternative outcome was going to do to our marriage.
RJF -- Friday, March 6 2009, 09:58 am Monday is the scene where Pete goes ballistic and either beats up Ron or jumps out the window, right? Or is he already passed out on the floor, off-panel?
Ron's not the type to two-time somebody, so I'm guessing the thing with Mara is either:
1) They're on a separation that hasn't been made official yet, he wants to settle things in person, and he said "I love you" hesitantly because the alternative was to explain things over the phone, which he didn't want to do;
2) He loves Mara like a close friend, and wants to tell her about this development and get her "blessing" of sorts.
Any alternative to the above has to end with people going after Bullfrog with torches.
MJL -- Friday, March 6 2009, 10:15 am Nothing to do with the storyline: In panel 2, are we seeing Lissa in a mirror?
I think there was some sophomoric comic potential to have Pete's initial reactions in the background of panel 4. That being said, I consider that omission to be taking the high road. You don't want to clutter the moment too much. As always, well done, Frog.
Bullfrog -- Friday, March 6 2009, 10:22 am 'Tis Lissa in the mirror, indeedy-do. And RJF - who I assume is not my former employer, but I may be wrong - is on the right track.
JGoh -- Friday, March 6 2009, 11:01 am I like this strip in particular because I think it'll make Pete mad when he finds out, and since it's unlikely that any scripts will be written where he falls down the stairs and has a case of explosive amnesia, I'll take what I can get.
Twitter is fun. All the other web-comic artists are doing it! I like hearing from Jeph Jacques and Danielle Corsetto when their new strips are up.
Joe B -- Friday, March 6 2009, 12:05 pm HOORAY
I'll take Pete passed out on the floor or couch, tantalizingly close to something going on that would make him explode if he could see it!
RJF: or 3) Mara had something she was kind enough to give back to Ron?
The last two panels are dead perfect. I had wordier alternatives in mind, but this is better.
Miyaa -- Friday, March 6 2009, 01:19 pm And all of this wouldn't have happened if it weren't for alcohol. Hooray for alcohol.
Wood -- Friday, March 6 2009, 02:38 pm Frog. Let my complement your amazing ability to draw side-boob. Well played. Also, I thought you all might appreciate this.

Coach -- Saturday, March 7 2009, 02:54 pm As I know Bullfrog is a fan of cheap beer and pizza, I went to this place down in South Slope that might of interest. It is called Toby's Public House. They do a moderately expensive, but excellent quality 12 inch pizzas (I recommend the buffalo mozzarella pie) and a completely drinkable 3 buck pint of their home brew.
Oh yeah, how's my kielbasa doing? Was it too long for you?
Miyaa -- Saturday, March 7 2009, 05:42 pm I'm going to have to ask what you define as "completely drinkable" with regards to home brew beer.
Coach -- Saturday, March 7 2009, 07:16 pm A beer better than Genny Cream..
Bullfrog -- Sunday, March 8 2009, 11:19 am Dude, it is brewed from the crystal-clear waters of the mighty Gennesseo itself. Do not step to Genny Cream.
CK -- Sunday, March 8 2009, 10:24 pm I am looking forward to tomorrow's strip!
(And yes, a total dork, clearly.)
Miyaa -- Monday, March 9 2009, 01:15 am Will Pete punch Ron in the stomach? Will Jen scream and yell at Lissa? Will Lissa's grandfather come in to give Ron & Lissa an "I told you so?" (And yes, it didn't occur to me until I was going the clumsily designed archives.) Tune in next week for another scintillating week of Five Bucks to Friday!
