Comic for Monday, January 19, 2009

Free drinkage!

Continuing the back to basics in '09 approach.. Is it just me, or does the comic appear brighter lately? Could just be my new display.

I've been rocking out in No More Heroes lately, and recommend it for anyone looking for an edgy, bloody good time on the Wii. It's a very stylish, much smaller-scale, snarky GTA with a lightsaber. It's also worth mentioning that your character falls asleep on a subway and dreams about a Space Invaders-y sequence for no real reason that becomes the rest of the level. Good times!

The AV Club is going through old Star Trek episodes, and I'm loving it. I haven't seen more than an episode here or there in probably fifteen or more years now, and I'd really like to see it again as an anthropological project. I like that the blogger is keeping us updated on the sexual politics of the show, which was something I never really paid much attention to when I was 10 and watching it every night at seven on WXXA (I mean, I noticed that Kirk landed hottie after hottie, but that was about the extent of it).

I spent about half an hour on Saturday looking through old Garbage Pail Kids cards on the internet. What the fuck, how easily entertained were we back in the 80s? Remember that it was even a movie? Yikes.

Speaking of movies, I caught Jurassic Park III on TBS over the weekend. Wow, was that bad.

Sox tickets on sale this weekend!

I don't really know what to think about this, but Glens Falls is near where I grew up, so it gets a mention.

The party the world has been waiting for has begun! When next I blog, we'll be in a brave new world, people. Thank Christ. To quote Radiohead, "I'm amazed that I survived." As could be expected, the Times is all over this with weird-o graphics and stuff. Excelsior!

I was watching the "Obamastock" as some were calling it yesterday (HBO). There was this Asian child sitting right behind Obama and she was looking not only utterly bored but slept through the whole thing.

You really ought to do a special Tuesday Inauguration strip.

I did a show in Glens Falls a few years back! Actually it was a three-week residency with a skating company. It was pretty!

Bullfrog -- Monday, January 19 2009, 01:02 pm

The thing about an inauguration strip is that it's really hard to do a real-time comic strip, and I've got too many work-related things on my plate for today... I'm getting Wednesday's strip ready today, though, and if I've got time and inspiration tomorrow (so, time, because if there's one thing the Homeboy does, it's inspire), it'll be pushed to Friday and I'll whip something up tomorrow.

Just to let you know Miyaa, both my girlfriend and I thought that little girl who slept through the show had Down's syndrome.

Also, Glen Falls has a soft spot in my heart as I accidentally locked my keys in the car at a Wal-Mart there trying to get some cheap Canadian beer. I was stuck there for over 3 hours. That was awesome!

I dunno, it listed at about $150 most places I saw it. I wanted Pete to be ordering something classy and, more importantly, expensive.

I can't believe that asshole has made almost-responsible use of his pardoning powers.
