Moving on.

Posted: 6:30 am, Wednesday, November 26th

First things first, I am so taking Friday off. I imagine most of you will be sleeping off turkey hangovers on Friday, anyway, and I just need a freaking break from everything. I'm a bit bummed that I'm only finally getting Ron fired now, when I'm not at 100% on the strip. I'm not 100% on anything right now, though. I guess there's a timeline for first-year teachers that goes something like anticipation/survival/disillusionment/recovery/reflection or something, and I'm soundly in disillusionment right now. I left school Monday night convinced I was the worst teacher ever - worse even than my ninth-grade Spanish teacher. This, of course, is ludicrous, but the wearisome (I won't say bad) days are outnumbering the good ones right now, and I need some family and wine and days without 14-year olds right now.

Second, the annual apocalytpic Five Bucks Christmas storyline is taking shape in my notepad. I just thought I'd mention that, because, God, I love Christmas.

omahadomer says it's time for Weis to go; it's time for Weis to go. And it's for people like this dude's grandfather that we can't keep Weis around anymore.

I find it hilarious that Ann Coulter needs to have her mouth wired shut. Couldn't happen to a nicer neocon.

Weird that Jim DeRogatis comes up twice in a week in this space, but here he is weighing in on Billy Corgan's tour of weirdness.

Bjork: Being really weird for over 15 years now.

The Irish managed to hang on to beat Texas by one in a really great game. I thought we might figure out how to lose it at the end, but, nope, the win came through. If you aren't traveling, ND will be getting crushed (well, hopefully not, but lets be realistic here) by North Carolina at 10 pm Eastern tonight on ESPN.

and that's all from your daily Irish basketball update. Thank you for letting me bore you once again, poor misguided Irish football fans. I always knew I liked the better sport.

Bullfrog -- Wednesday, November 26 2008, 08:19 am

Damn, that game's not on 'til ten? I was hoping not to fall asleep during it. DVR it is!

The 'Gode is looking awesome already. That really was an entertaining game last night. My problem is always that the last minute of a basketball game takes about 45 minutes.

Bullfrog -- Wednesday, November 26 2008, 08:38 am

The Lady Irish soccer team is in the national quarterfinals against FSU on Friday, I just noticed. I also just noticed we're ranked #1 at 24-0-0. Yeah, so we've always got women's soccer.

I just discovered I can access the web from my Kindle and even read the comic on 5Bucks. Awesome.

tree -- Wednesday, November 26 2008, 11:22 am

Bullfrog: who are these Gym Class Heroes I keep seeing/reading/hearing everywhere? Am I to like them? I'm still on the Weis bandwagon, by the way.

Coach -- Wednesday, November 26 2008, 12:27 pm

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!

http://wcbstv.com/breakingnewsalerts/subway.terror.plot.2.874410.html The joys of living in NYC!!

DFFD -- Wednesday, November 26 2008, 01:24 pm

Luckily your lazy ass is never on the subway during rush hour so you don't have to worry about it.

Bullfrog -- Wednesday, November 26 2008, 01:43 pm

Dunno, Tree. Although there was this one game in high school gym where I was playing rover in softball, positioned kind of like a second shortstop, and I made seven straight outs. It was amazing. The jocks were hitting seeds at me to try and get me to fuck up, and I was snagging everything. Kind of the highlight of Li'l Bullfrog's athletic career.

Bullfrog -- Wednesday, November 26 2008, 01:45 pm

Allmusic is not terribly impressed by their efforts.

Bullfrog -- Wednesday, November 26 2008, 01:48 pm

I love Allmusic's writeups of Nickelback albums, also. This new one's their worst yet!

crownover -- Wednesday, November 26 2008, 02:40 pm

i like gym class heroes. but i'm not sure i have the best taste in music ...

todd -- Thursday, November 27 2008, 07:01 am

Speaking of Nickelback... You know those ads from some credit card where they are giving away a three city tour with Nickelback?

I always wonder: Is second place a five city tour?

Bullfrog -- Thursday, November 27 2008, 07:53 am

Oh, man, yeah, Citi's Nickelback promotion is phenomenally misguided. Who fucking likes Nickelback?

102-87 to UNC, with the Gode battling the flu, is nothing to be ashamed of. And good work, K-Mac, 39 points in the game!

Miyaa -- Thursday, November 27 2008, 01:44 pm

This is partly why Citigroup needs a bailout by several Federal Governments.

Miyaa -- Saturday, November 29 2008, 07:08 pm

I've been thinking that now it's proven that good college coaches shouldn't coach in the NFL and vice-versa, whom should Notre Dame start looking into as their next head coach? (Note: Pete Caroll wasn't a good NFL coach.) And no, I don't think a win against USC will save Weis. That's how bad the Syracuse loss was.

Bullfrog -- Saturday, November 29 2008, 08:14 pm

Paul Johnson.

todd -- Saturday, November 29 2008, 08:37 pm

I'm hearing Brian Kelly is the target

Coach -- Sunday, November 30 2008, 08:09 pm

If you want Kelly, it will be at your peril.. he is overrated just like Cincy.

Pat S. -- Sunday, November 30 2008, 09:46 pm

I was at the Wednesday Pumpkins show in Chicago, and thankfully BC did not do any of that weirdness. Maybe he read DeRogatis and knew to knock it off? He did, however, close with a really annoying 17-minute encore song that just disappointed everybody there and made us wish we hadn't cheered for an encore.

todd -- Monday, December 1 2008, 04:46 am

Didn't say I wanted him, just that I'm hearing he's the top target.

I actually think I should be the coach. I'm undefeated in the last seven years on Xbox.
