Goin' to the other half of the 718.

Posted: 6:30 am, Monday, September 15th

Oh, man, what a weekend. The weddin' in NC was outstanding - I spent Saturday lounging on the beach, tossing the ol' pleatherskin around, and then repeatedly high-fiving friends as the Irish quickly put the boot on the flourescent-yellow neck of Michigan. Sco-dub and Aim wrote their own vows and had really just a beautiful little ceremony. And there was, like, a lot of a bacon on hand. So that was good.

As for the game, I had forgotten how much fun it is to watch a beatdown with my buddies. We all commisserated (briefly) on how we wished Notre Dame football didn't mean as much to us as it did, and quickly put that talk away by the time Jimmy found Tate on the 58-yard bomb that was just perfectly thrown (actually, he could've gotten more under it - Tate had the safety by like five yards and had to slow up). Take heart, though, Michigan fans, you are in fact the better team.

"We don't have our heads down because we know who the better team was," defensive back Steve Brown said, referring to Michigan. "They beat us today. It happens, but in our hearts we know we're the better team."

As the Nation boards say,

As Brown's statement indicates, yesterday's game continued a remarkable streak dating back to 1886 in which Michigan has never lost to a better team. It is the longest and most treasured streak in collegiate sports.

Alright, I should get moving. Next weekend, I have nothing to do, so the Monday bloggin' will actually be of some substance. I suppose *something* is probably occurring in the world, after all. Oh, 2.0 bought herself a fancy-dancy little iPod Touch the other day - that thing is pretty fly.

Oh, I almost forgot - now we are four.

For those of you who have long given up on SNL and therefore missed the Tina Fey-as-Palin sketch on Saturday - I highly recommend a viewing! I would link to it, but work blocks the YouTube.

I second e! Tina Fey nailed it.

Here are two versions; the bottom one is good quality.

Congrats on the anniversary!

Sooooo nice to watch a victory Saturday. Michigan fumbling 41 times didn't make the victory any less sweet to me.

Huh. SEVEN home games in '09. I didn't know they would let you do that. Really, they ought to lower tuition.

In the play that Frog mentions, the ball went almost exactly 50 yards in the air. Yes, slightly under thrown, but still a mighty heave.

QB still needs to cut his hair, though.

No love for Charlie "Status: Questionable" Weis and his injury?

I'm not saying the Big 10 is bad this year, but I think if Notre Dame actually were in the Big 10, they'd go a respectable 7-5 and go a decent bowl game this year.

Zambrawno throwing a no-hitter in Milwaukee. Against the Astros. The mind boggles.

Am I the only one thinking a bigger deal needs to be made about the Yankees not going to postseason play this year? I barely hear a peep about the Yankees from ESPN as it is now.

Licia -- Monday, September 15 2008, 11:32 am

congrats on the anniversary! thou ya know, I was totally expecting to see an ultrasound of twins when clicking on the "we are four" link.

Congratulations!!!

Yikes Licia!

Bullfrog -- Tuesday, September 16 2008, 06:23 am

At first, I wasn't convinced that Michigan was the better team last weekend. I mean, a UM player is kind of biased, and probably a kinesiology major. But thankfully, MGoBlog used cherrypicked stats, rose-colored glasses, and insults to prove that Michigan was in fact better than 18-point victors Notre Dame. Good to know!

Thank God I don't have to read that douche's site again for another year, or unless Michigan goes 1-11. (Please, please oh please.)

Man, I love Bill Lee.

TUESDAY TRIVIA: The "E" in Wile E. Coyote stands for “Ethelbert”.

Licia -- Tuesday, September 16 2008, 10:15 am

Sorry there, baby on the brain!

drolett -- Tuesday, September 16 2008, 03:52 pm

what i think i love best about that U of M blog is the fact that, apparently, only michigan had to play in the rain. the irish had some impervious charm placed upon them and their balls (you know what i mean) and the poor wolverines were left to face the elements without like protection.
