Comic for Thursday, July 24th, 2008

Posted: 6:45 am, Thursday, July 24th
I have come out and say this off the bat: I'm taking next week off. I'm sorry, I hate to do it, but I just need to have a few days where I can just come home from my thing and either relax or bust my ass looking for schools to teach at instead of fighting with this piece of dung computer, getting the strip out. It kills me to walk away from the strip for any length of time - 2.0 can testify - but I've just been running myself ragged (and I think it's been showing in the strip lately, too). So, strip tomorrow, then a week off, then we're back in action. I'll check in in the comments, and maybe if something happens quickly on the job front, I'll jump back in with a strip or two later in the week. But as of right now, the plan is five days with no strip.
So there's that.
Here's a breakdown of the late night show hullaballoo that we're about to get back into. Now, I don't want to freak yr mind or anything, but check out when the last round of late-night wars went down: 1992. Anyone else remember what happened in 1992? Maybe in about November? Hell yeah, is all I'm saying. Also, Singles came out, which paved the way for the more-important soundtrack to Singles. Please, dear Jesus, let us be on the cusp of another Golden Age of peace, prosperity, and listenable music.
Here's a little something to throw into your picnic basket on the way out of the house.
This story about a 51st state, a faux Wyoming, is so weird that I hope I remember to read it all later. (Wyfauxming?)
Alright, so, sorry about the bummer to start the day on the site, but, yeah, I really need it. Quick example of how zonked I am? It was Reggie Ho's birthday yesterday and I forgot to call. I suck.

That have worked: Cream cheese, honey, salsa
That have not worked: Grain mustard
2.0 -- Thursday, July 24 2008, 07:30 am Digusting. The option of grabbing something elsewhere is apparently less inviting than mustard at 6AM.
This is what goes on when I'm doing Yoga apparently.
Zero -- Thursday, July 24 2008, 08:35 am I don't think any of us will complain if you take a week off of this strip you do for free to look for a job that, you know, pays you. If you miss the next Monday, though, we take a finger.
Am I the only person who hated the movie Singles and wanted to take each character and slap them silly? Reality Bites, too. I remember that being sold as 'the postcard of my generation,' which made smoke come out of my ears. Actual smoke! Really!
(not really)

Jim Ryan -- Thursday, July 24 2008, 12:16 pm Have yourself a good rest. Hope you enjoy the time off.
2.0 -- Thursday, July 24 2008, 01:23 pm I just want to thank you guys for being so supportive of this hiatus that J's taking. It was a lengthy conversation, and he was pretty torn up over it. Ultimately though, he's pretty beat and I think he'll be a more refreshed Bullfrog in the future.
So, thanks again for understanding.
KT -- Thursday, July 24 2008, 03:30 pm What am I going to read after I check my gmail in the morning?!?!
I will manage, since I know what it's like to be burning the candle at both ends...
BTW - I would have loved to hear your lesson on satire.
Also - who of you out there actually watch the late night talk shows? Granted, we may not be the key demographic. I'll occasionally watch one if a band I like is playing, but then I'll fast forward to the end. Otherwise, I'll sometimes catch Colbert in reruns. It hasn't been since high school that I regularly watched Letterman or Conan.
51 -- Thursday, July 24 2008, 04:49 pm I'm all for taking breaks from stuff! Go bullfrog!
