Comic for Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

At least Lissa cares.

Need to get this up quickly because I still have some crap to get together for my satire lesson. I've already decided that teaching satire in one quick day is a terrible idea, and now I'm mostly curious to see how far off the rails this goes.

I like the idea here, but the execution is weak (coming from a guy who can only somewhat draw the Homeboy). That barely looks like Ben.

Wow, check out the overreaching by Starbucks. Good thing Kelly found success in theater. I see that, relatively speaking, very very few are closing in Manhattan. That's amazing.

It sounds like no one missed the irony of Public Enemy playing "She Watch Channel Zero" this past weekend, except for Flavor-Flav.

This happened a while ago (well, part of it happened in the mid-80s, but even the recent part is from last week), but McCain has a terrible sense of humor.

Only one Starbucks closing inside the Beltway - as long as no-drinking-in-metro is enforced, you have to have coffee on the work end.

If Starbucks was a liquid, it would be beyond the point of supersaturation, and starting to form a crystal. I think part of the problem is that you find Starbucks in places that you wouldn't think of having them. Like in a Wells Fargo bank, or at the bottom floor of the University of Missouri's main Library system, where all sorts of beverages are forbidden, except for Starbucks cups.

The UT library reconsidered its ban on drinks after putting in a coffee shop (not Starbucks). Then they decided to allow all beverages that have a lid. I can't complain about the outcome, though the fact that no one thought about it before putting in the coffee shop strikes me as odd.

And I hope the satire lesson either stayed on the rails or went so far off that it wandered into the realm of the absurd, which can be quite fun.
