Comic for Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

2.0's home sick today, but not debilitatingly sick, so I think we're going to end the suspense and go see the matinee of Indiana Jones today. This way, if it sucks, it'll suck cheaply. So far I've got Retrocrush saying aye, the Voice saying nay, and the AV Club saying meh. The metacritic reviews are pretty thoroughly average. I guess I'll have my say in a few hours. Also, evidently he was almost called Indiana Smith.
Also from the Voice, Andrew WK has just gone plain bonkers. Man, I Get Wet totally holds up, though. And, yes, it's dumb music, but so was the Darkness, and that aged a bit. Party 'til You Puke is universal.
Even in a year when the Robot Genius goes 3-9, I think the university should still pay him more than that fraud Willingham. I think that sonofabitch is finally off the books this year.
The Sox are looking tremendous right now, which means that they're due to lose 4 straight. I've never seen such a good team be so incredibly streaky.

15's Lil Sis -- Thursday, May 22 2008, 09:17 am I'm headed to my local cineplex after work myself to catch Indiana Smith and the Blah de Blah Blah. I'm fairly certain I'll love it, no discerning palate here. Except for Prince Caspian, which just made me cranky.
Bullfrog -- Thursday, May 22 2008, 10:09 am I am the word of the day! (Thanks, CK)
http://wordsmith.org/words/jeremiah.html
Funny, even the very bottom X-bonus or whatever is kind of applicable to me. I'd heard jeremiad before, but never my name as a noun.
2.0 -- Thursday, May 22 2008, 11:06 am Yes, I needn't imagine such a world...
51 -- Thursday, May 22 2008, 11:34 am yes, but jeremiah is not apparently a playable word in scrabble, so don't get too excited.
Miyaa -- Thursday, May 22 2008, 11:53 am Dude, if it's a word in a dictionary, it counts for Scrabble. Congratulations, Bullfrog, you can be the triple word and triple letter score today. Now if you'll excuse me, I feel a little jeremiah-ish.
Ondy -- Thursday, May 22 2008, 12:58 pm Anyone ever see "Word Wars", the Scrabble documentary? Good stuff.
MJL -- Thursday, May 22 2008, 01:11 pm Every person profiled in Word Wars was hilarious.
51 -- Thursday, May 22 2008, 01:14 pm the book "word freak" is another great portrait of scrabble insanity.
Bullfrog -- Thursday, May 22 2008, 02:12 pm Indiana Jones and the Temple of Meh. The good news is that it's not actively bad.
2.0 -- Thursday, May 22 2008, 02:24 pm I agree. Meh.
It wasn't bad, but I wasn't engaged at any point.
I don't know what they did to futz with the film quality, but the effect flattened the footage out completely. Also, there's no sex appeal between Harrison Ford and a middle aged Marian. It was nice to see her, but she looked a bit matronly.
I rank it last in the franchise.
Bullfrog -- Thursday, May 22 2008, 02:27 pm I think I've only seen Temple of Doom once, when I was 10. So I'd have to see that one again. But it's not as fun as Raiders or Crusade, that's for sure.
And that's today's installment of 2.0 and Bullfrog Go To the Movies! Later, we'll thrill you with our take on the eighth episode of the second season of the Wire.
No we won't.
Ted's Head -- Thursday, May 22 2008, 02:36 pm How was Shia Le Boof? He kind of frightens me a bit. Was he annoying or not so annoying?
Bullfrog -- Thursday, May 22 2008, 02:43 pm I think he was not so annoying more than he was annoying. He didn't really add anything to anything.
There is a prairie dog in the opening sequence that smacks of George Lucas's involvement.
2.0 -- Thursday, May 22 2008, 03:45 pm ....must....insert...stupid CGI mascot....gasp.
tree -- Thursday, May 22 2008, 11:35 pm How was the 8th episode of The Wire? If I remember right, it's about to get real fucking good.
Bullfrog, did I ever tell you how Elizabeta's sister got asked out by Sufjan Stevens in Brooklyn?
Bullfrog -- Friday, May 23 2008, 07:09 am No, you did not. I don't know if I know who was actually Elizabeta - I mean, I think I do, but if I'm right, I wasn't in her class. Did she once say, "Excellent, you will sleep here tonight?"
