Comic for Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

I think they're on like a rooftop bar or something.

Posted: 8:15 am, Wednesday, May 21st

We finally saw Iron Man ourselves yesterday afternoon, and it was pretty bad-ass. 2.0 thinks it's her favorite superhero flick, I still like the second Spider-Man, but that's because I basically am Peter Parker except for English and not science. Robert Downey Jr. is awesome in it, and Gwynneth Paltrow didn't look bored not even once. That is unusual praise from me for Ms. Paltrow's acting.

I have no idea why the gang is dressed up.

The only thing better than the Goat Fuckers losing 12-2 is that the two runs came on an A-Rod homer when they were already down 10-0. Classic. I bet more Human Goiters are pissed at him for hitting that two-run homer this morning than they are at Cap'n Average throwing the ball over Giambi's head in the first, opening the gates for six unearned runs in the frame. Judas was flashing the leather out there in left, too. Good times all the way around.

I'm sure everyone will be shocked to learn that that dude who put his social security number on the ads for his anti-ID theft product has had his identity highjacked like 20 times since the ads have run. That is awesome.

Having been kept in a box for the '80s, I don't remember Square Pegs - can anyone recommend it? I'm torn between my flash-rage at Sarah Jessica Parker's presence and my love for Freaks and Geeks, which gets mentioned in the AV Club review.

Yeah, homeboy. And the Deathwatch is at .7%. Damn. That may be lower than Cheney's approval rating.

Shoot, I had something else to say, and I can't remember it.

Right, it was this.. I think I've linked to someecards before, but they've got an election-themed card right now that's pretty good.

Did not expect to see Malcolm Gladwell in Scary Go Round today.

Square Pegs was fun for what it was, a goofy little sitcom. The reviewer is dead on when he says it's where Hughes and Freaks and Geeks drew from. You can live with Parker because she's playing a homely freshman who isn't cool. I suggest Netflix. (Did you see the thing Netflix partnered with now, attach it to your online connection and have over 10,000 titles thru your Netflix account instantly. Very cool)

I was in a MFY bar last night during the 1st inning and it was just awesome. AWESOME

Michelangelo - was it you who linked to another 'alternative' greeting card site on you blog - but this one was actual greeting cards and not ecards? I can't remember where I saw that site... and I can't find it again - and I would like to get a card from there. I might have heard about it somewhere else.

Reminds me of a long deceased webcomic where one guy blathers about how good the computer's security is and then everything in the house is hacked, even the microwave!

I really have no pity for that id-lock dude. Humility sometimes is a better security feature than flaunting it out.

And Jeter got injured during the game too, I think. And they lost to Baltimore. Baltimore!

Bullfrog -- Wednesday, May 21 2008, 11:39 am

Huh.. Not ringing a bell, Rosa.

Warning, 'cause there's immediate sound, but there's a new Hold Steady track on their MySpace page. Better than much of Boys and Girls, still reaching for the awesomeness of the first two albums.

Ted's Head -- Wednesday, May 21 2008, 11:41 am

Even though I am a hated Yankee fan, I did get some twisted sense of enjoyment watching Jeter and Damon account for 8 unearned runs. Maybe because Mussina is such a prick, you just knew his blood was boiling.

And I enjoy watching A-Rod hit home runs. Any time. Though it wasn't as satisfying as a tie-breaking home run off of Papelbon in the 9th, it was his first game back from DL, and that's a good sign.

Bullfrog -- Wednesday, May 21 2008, 12:03 pm

Damon's error reminded me of our softball team.

Ted's Head -- Wednesday, May 21 2008, 12:37 pm

Yeah, and Jeter's throw looked familiar too. At least when I was the shortstop the ball didn't go through my legs. A couple of balls might have ended up in the East River but they never went through my legs.

I think it would be pretty cool to see somebody you know in one of the google street view maps.

Bullfrog - apparently a new Oasis song has been leaked to the internet. Can you find that for us?

Bullfrog -- Wednesday, May 21 2008, 01:18 pm

Huh. Found some demos, that's all.

Bullfrog -- Wednesday, May 21 2008, 01:19 pm

That's evidently what the what-what is, though.

Any good?

Bullfrog -- Wednesday, May 21 2008, 02:48 pm

Didn't listen. One mo'.

Bullfrog -- Wednesday, May 21 2008, 02:55 pm

Stop the Clocks is very Shoulders of Giants-y, and the others are giving me trouble right now. I'll try again later.

tree -- Wednesday, May 21 2008, 03:41 pm

Stop the Clocks seemed to be the one people were talking about.

Bullfrog -- Wednesday, May 21 2008, 03:42 pm

I'm pretty sure that was released on their greatest hits album. You know, as the one original track that's nowhere near as good as Champagne Supernova or Rock n' Roll Star.
