I guess I always just thought 'the land of 10,000 lakes' thing was a tourism slogan, but, holy hell, are there a ton of lakes in Minnesota. We had an excellent little trip out there - the girl at the front desk of the inn said 'geez, Louise,' which made my day - and Spacegirl and her fellow had a nice wedding celebration and everything. The arboretum was a lovely place for a weddingish, and the Walker Art Center the next day.. was also, I guess, a lovely place for a weddingish, although we were there mostly just to look at the art, there was no weddingish going on.
And then, of course, there was the million-hour ordeal getting back home from an NYC airport using just public transpo ('til the end, when we hopped a cab who tried taking us to Manhattan first - who the fuck gets picked up from the Flatbush LIRR station at quarter after midnight to take a cab into Manhattan?). It wasn't as bad as trying to depart from LaGuardia in the rain, but it still was more than I wanted to deal with last night.
That's really all I've got - traveling, I was out of touch with the news. I did just see an ad for adult Twinkies that really weirded me out, though. (And, seriously, Chankshaft, damn.)

Bullfrog -- Monday, May 19 2008, 09:04 am I can totally believe that this man holds sway over the political views of millions of people.

Tempest621 -- Monday, May 19 2008, 09:32 am Yep Minnesota has a ton of lakes. I just moved out here to Minneapolis from NY and CT and I have to say that everyone here has a lakehouse up north. Or what they call a cabin. The funny thing is it's not that you have a cabin up on a lake, it's HOW MANY lakes is your cabin next to that matters. Seriously, I overheard one person bragging how their cabin is 5 minutes drive from 3 different lakes. Well I guess if they have to argue about something....why not lakes.
Bullfrog -- Monday, May 19 2008, 09:35 am We were joking that probably the in-thing to do was have a house *not* on a lake.
I thought of the Minnesota State Screamin' Eagles many times while up there.
crownover -- Monday, May 19 2008, 09:44 am is that your drycleaner who got killed?
Miyaa -- Monday, May 19 2008, 09:53 am Ice fishing. Definitely ice fishing.
Bullfrog -- Monday, May 19 2008, 09:53 am Is this something about the Terrace? I heard a snip of it in the cab on the way home yesterday. I doubt it's *my* drycleaner because I wear, you know, t-shirts, but I probably know the shop.
Bullfrog -- Monday, May 19 2008, 09:54 am Holy shit, yeah, totally. Dropped off a bunch of stuff for 2.0 there last week before her LA trip.

Bullfrog -- Monday, May 19 2008, 09:59 am Wow, fuck me. That place is like three blocks from World HQ.
KT -- Monday, May 19 2008, 10:09 am I actually thought McCain was pretty funny on SNL - at least on the Weekend Update part.
2.0 -- Monday, May 19 2008, 11:00 am It looks like they caught the guy who did it. God. This is so terrible. She was really nice. Always friendly and attentive.
2.0 -- Monday, May 19 2008, 12:20 pm Sorry. I didn't mean to kill the day. Commence discussions on topics less depressing. For instance...
Huge bunny!

Bullfrog -- Monday, May 19 2008, 12:32 pm WTF.
Miyaa -- Monday, May 19 2008, 05:24 pm I'd check it for steroids, and a good rabbit recipe.
Miyaa -- Monday, May 19 2008, 05:49 pm Read the story that went with this. Apparently, this guy is breeding "monster bunnies" to trade to North Korea. North Korea gets food and he gets some cash from this.
And he has no qualms about the whole process.
Bullfrog -- Monday, May 19 2008, 09:38 pm Holy fuck, Lester just threw a no-hitter!
Bullfrog -- Monday, May 19 2008, 09:44 pm Also noteworthy, Tek tied the record for no-hitters caught.
