The Wake, no, baseball, yes?

Posted: 7:50 am, Tuesday, May 6th

I played softball with my old company last night, since I have no issue with anyone on the team. We haven't gotten much better - mercied out, 13-1, for a rather uninspiring 0-3 at this point. The other team could just freaking rake the ball to all fields. Pretty impressive, really.

Thus far, I think I enjoyed San Andreas a bit more than I am GTAIV. The graphics are, of course, head and shoulders above - not always, mind you, but the physics engine that detects collisions makes for some gut-turningly realistic car accidents. I just liked the wild amount of random crap you can do in San Andreas that, so far, I haven't really seen in IV. Also, maybe because California is some wild frontier to me, the stuff they have seems very inclusive, and because I know NY pretty well, the stuff they *don't* have sticks out like a sore thumb to me. This article sums it up pretty well, and of course the morans commenting on it miss the point. (One thing they nail, though, is the Triboro Bridge - shockingly realistic, down to the sharp right turn after the suspension-y part, which I'm sure has a more technical name.)

Man, Captain's Dead has busted out the radio hits of the 90s. I haven't thought of Letters to Cleo in years. Stereogum counters with a ridiculous Insane Clown Posse video, and, bless 'em, a Juggalo pops in at the end of the comments to drop some knowledge. I have to give it up, I mean, ICP is obviously speaking to something deep within these people to foster the most insanely loyal fan community I've ever heard of. I just have no fucking idea what it may be that they're speaking to.

We've got a large North Carolina contingent in the house, so good luck voting today, squad.

Um, weird.

Sometimes I feel like if voting can't resolves which candidate should be the Democratic Presidential candidate, then an American Gladiator style eliminator ought to do the trick. And if not that, force Al Gore to run again, just to spite both Clinton and Obama.

I don't remember Insane Clown Posse, and I wonder if I'm blessed that I don't remember it.

Wasn't ICP also a pro-wrestling tag team? I'm sure it was - but I think it was just a take off on the "real" ICP. (I'm down with ICP, yeah you know me.)

Bullfrog -- Tuesday, May 6 2008, 11:05 am

I know that they had a backyard wrestling video game, I think... ICP, for the uninitiated, are a rap duo (I believe they go by Violent J and Shaggy II Dope) who wear clown makeup and rap about the Dark Carnival and necromancy and - wait for it - Faygo. They had a whole weird mythology built into their CDs about the end of the world coinciding with their sixth album. They dropped this mythology with the seventh album. I think they mostly appeal to 15-year old white suburban boys. Probably the peak of their fame was a dis track on Eminem's Marshall Mathers album.

Just hot out of the wire, one of the co-founders of Baskin-Robbins ice cream shops has died. I'm not sure pouring a forty or perhaps eating a whole quart of ice cream (chocolate chocolate chip for me) would be more appropriate.

You don't remember ICP? Man, sadly they were pretty popular at my HS. That was mostly among the white-trashy suburban quotient though. I did like their Faygo pop endorsement, but that was it. Check this great Onion takedown:

I'm enjoying this election night! Awesome speech by Obama in NC. And there's hope for Indiana yet.

I'm jazzed to note that St. Joe's went to the homeboy pretty decisively. I know that ND students aren't registered to vote there, and that they'd probably largely back McCain, but, still, holla St. Joe's county.

I voted early in South Bend since I'm in NYC right now. I also called to make sure my parents were driving my grandmother to the polls, so that's four Obama votes right there.

Still 5% remaining to be counted.
