Have I made it clear that Pete sleeps on the couch? Every night?

Posted: 8:00 am, Tuesday, April 8th

No idea where this one came from. I guess I saw an infomercial or something.

Not a lot to report on today - my big happening yesterday was already brought up, the tasty tasty knish I had for lunch.

I spoke to my dad last night. This will be his first baseball season with cable, and I think it's going to kill him. He groaned not once, twice, but three times during our ten-minute conversation, and each time I thought it was the end. Nope, just a Goat Fucker getting a hit. For someone generally unaware of the day's results, he really lives and dies with every at bat.

Check out today's craziness from Captain's Dead - it's the Charles Manson album. I listened to about half of it. It's *way* less creepy than I expected, although a few of the spoken-word poetry pieces are pretty out there. Some of the songs are actually downright listenable. One of the most out-there things I've seen on the web in quite some time.

I'm disappointed that the congestion-pricing plan got utterly shot down yesterday. I think Bloomy tried for too much too soon - five instead of eight may've had a much better chance of getting through, and special rates for commerical trucks early in the morning may have been a compromise worth having on the table, too. I think it's too good of an idea - and probably too vital of one, going forward - to kill outright like the legislature did. Comments like this are the ones that really drive me crazy:

Assemblyman Mark S. Weprin, a Queens Democrat, said that in discussing the issue with his colleagues, “the word ‘elitist’ came up a number of times.” His constituents, Mr. Weprin said, almost uniformly opposed the measure, viewing it as a tax on their ability to move around their own city.

TAKE THE FUCKING SUBWAY. God. I know one person who drives into Manhattan from Brooklyn on a daily basis, and even then only since she got pregnant. Elitism *is* driving from Brooklyn or Queens into lower Manhattan. The MTA, for all its myriad problems, is a really comprehensive system, and one of the great social equalizers of our time (Bloomy takes it to work, himself). Elitist. Fuck you, dude.

Speaking of the subway...

Alright, big home opener for the Sox. Hopefully, they all caught up on their sleep and can get back to playing something like competent baseball today.

Oh, geez, and congrats to CK and Tree, the Jayhawks fans in the room.

MNP -- Tuesday, April 8 2008, 08:15 am

Along Bullfrog's "take the subway" theme...it seems that even fish take the subway. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/08/us/08reef.html?_r=1&hp&oref=slogin

Blargh. National Championship games should not start at 9 pm EST/8 Central. Yet another reason to remind me to move out west.

I think my "sleep number" is something like 5.

Do not many people take the train? I can't imagine that sort of scene here in DC, not for a second..

Bullfrog -- Tuesday, April 8 2008, 01:44 pm

There's always a ton of traffic downtown, but fuck if I know who it is. I'd say all but maybe seven people (of just over 100) of the old office took public transpo into the office. That's midtown, though - somebody's got to be filling all those parking garages downtown.

Oh, man, that is one awesome Threadless design.

I was just thinking today on my run, they should totally bring the Sierra classics to the Wii Virtual Console. The VGA ones, definitely, are no brainers for the WiiMote. The early games would be tough, what with the typing interface, but I think there's totally a market for it. Beyond just me.

And then we can bring StarControl 2 to the VC, too.

Awesome, Manny just hit a triple and there was an error on the throw to let him score. Fuck yes, baseball.

Miyaa -- Tuesday, April 8 2008, 03:45 pm

Did I read right that the Notre Dame Hockey team is in the "Frozen Four?"

Rewatching last night's championship game, via NCAA's MMOD. It's not bad, but the pop everytime they switch from CBS live feed to commercial is annoying. More annoying than Billy Packer.

More annoying analyst: Billy Packer, Tim McCarver, or Joe Morgan?

Bullfrog -- Tuesday, April 8 2008, 08:54 pm

I'd say McCarver, only because he gets the biggest games in baseball. Packer, as annoying as he is, is capable of at least calling a moment with an appropriate level of emotion. Morgan will always bring it back to the Reds, and McCarver will find a way to mention Jeter.
