It's the Rob Show! With me, I'm Rob!

Posted: 12:00 am, Tuesday, March 18th

I don't know why I keep drawing the characters from kind-of behind this week. My style does not easily allow for that. I just couldn't come up with a way for Jen to be delivering her lines first from a side angle that didn't look totally confusing. I solve this tomorrow by just having them switch seats. We'll say somebody tall sat down in front of Jen. Anyway, so, yeah, I'm totally doing this Rob: The Show thing. I hope it does not horribly underwhelm.

Day one of unemployment is in the books! I probably did more uninterrupted working today than I did nine times out of ten at the office. Which could explain why I'm unemployed. (Not really.)(Or whatever.) One of the Ninja Consultants wisely told me a few weeks back that you can really only get one thing done a day when you're unemployed, but I hit, like five yesterday, I think. Granted, one item on my to-do list was filling out my bracket, but, hey, screw you. I'm unemployed.

Being that active, and hoping to keep that level of activity sustained for a while or at least until Thursday, I'm probably going to light on links for a bit. But I did get my daily e-mail from the Homeboy today, and he wants me to call people on the phone to tell them to vote. The last thing you want me doing for your campaign is calling people on the phone. I'm awful on the phone. I should really call for the McCain campaign. Anyway, though, check this out, there's a Top 10 ranking for Obama campaign callers. There is a real battle going on between Shotwell and Mills there - I've seen it ping-pong back and forth a few times since I've learned of this list. My money's on Shotwell, because my gram's name was Barbara and the only Jason I know is a disreputable layabout. Wait, I know two Jasons. But it applies to both.

I'm totally going to make this cake. Holy hell, does that look awesome.

Geez, do I have anything else going on? I'm going to have to dedicate time to not being boring so that I don't lose all my readers. I did download a Rage concert from '92 today that hopefully is good... The Bombtrack to kick things off was meh, but Take the Power Back and Bullet in the Head were both pretty awesome. I will revisit this at a later date.

Mellon Collie?

When I taught, I never got anything done during the summer months of fake unemployment.

Bullfrog -- Tuesday, March 18 2008, 07:21 am

Yeah, Mellon Collie.

I never really noticed if Mom got anything done with her summers. I'm not even sure what it would be she was trying to get done. But she probably was up to *something* while I was constantly mowing the lawn.

I took up knitting when I was unemployed. If you start now you could have a blanket made for me by Xmas.

Miyaa -- Tuesday, March 18 2008, 09:28 am

That cake looks very, very, good. Bonus points for the ganache.

Bullfrog -- Tuesday, March 18 2008, 09:33 am

I just watched three episodes of Arrested Development. I think I've entered the "I love not being at the office" stage of unemployment.

Bullfrog -- Tuesday, March 18 2008, 09:54 am

Crap, we missed out on the first Netflix attempt at BSG Season 3. Oh well, it would just keep me from applying for jobs and stuff, anyway.

Bullfrog -- Tuesday, March 18 2008, 09:56 am

I just found out that reader Licia's water broke.

I found this out via her Facebook page.

Miyaa -- Tuesday, March 18 2008, 12:02 pm

That's some updated Facebook page.

Have you read Obama's speech on race today? It's incredible in its balance, its beauty, its American dream. The prepared text is over at the Times -- I'm going to watch it on YouTube when I get home.

God, to elect a president I WANT to listen to . . .

2.0 -- Tuesday, March 18 2008, 02:13 pm

Actually we listened to it on NPR. The speech was great! All the things you expect from Obama. In fact, I was saying to Jeremiah it's too bad there aren't more dust-ups like this. I've grown so tired of the usual stump speech, this is rather refreshing!

Bullfrog -- Tuesday, March 18 2008, 02:14 pm

Yeah, the "God, it's great being home" stage of unemployment is in full swing over these parts.

Bullfrog -- Tuesday, March 18 2008, 03:50 pm

I'm so bummed I didn't order a damned Sox shirt before they shut this down.

Disreputable layabout. That's a good one. How are the crossbow bolts coming?
