God, I love this one.

Posted: 7:00 am, Tuesday, July 17th

The light's a bit sickly pale for it to be eight o'clock, so assume it's overcast or something. I love this strip otherwise, though, and I'm not ashamed to say it. By the way, the ripped from the headlines of my life bit was that I got kicked out of a cab once - not for vomiting in it, just the cabbie didn't know where he was going and freaked out and kicked me out of the cab up in Ditmars, maybe two miles from where I lived at the time, at about three thirty in the morning. I navigated my way home by walking along the train tracks, except overshot my destination and wound up in a UPS truck depot, which was so amazingly creepy I can barely describe it. I made it home eventually and slept for a very, very long time.

I don't think I mentioned it, but Slate's movie one-liner thing from a week or two ago was awesome. I love the line, "Flights of angels sing thee to thy rest, pissant," and can easily see it in Final Fantasy XIII or something. But then Junkiness came out with another whole slew of them, and I want to see a movie where all of these are implemented, preferably by the same character. "Klaatu, barada, niktu, motherfucker" is hilarious.

Even more disturbing than the fact that this site is not listed on Time's top 50 sites of the year is the fact that I don't visit *any* of these things. What the hell? I'm online, like, all day. This is awful. Whoa, not as awful as my first foray into exploring the list, though. "I'm Too Young For This," listed as news and information. I figured it was a humorous take on how we're all, every one of us, too young to put up with the end of the world shit that Shitwit seems hellbent upon bringing us to. No, no, it's about being young and having cancer. What a cheery end to the day!

Alright, screw you, Time, I'll make my happiness. It's been very nearly ten years since I studied abroad in Italy, and nothing in the ten years since has made me want to go back more than this article about in-house trattorias in Sicily. (And I never even made it to Sicily.) Honestly, I'm so hungry after reading that article. I'm going to go eat a cupcake, I think.

Damn, that was a good cupcake.

1've only been to 1 of the 50 sites... and i've never even heard of the rest. hm.

e and i had a similar experience in sicily - i can't remember if it was palermo or catania. it was late, and we were 4 young ladies looking very lost wandering around the neighborhood by the train station. we walked into a pastry shop that was closed at the time, i think. we were trying to ask directions, maybe to find a restaurant? dunno. but the guy told us to sit down, and he went upstairs (or in the back? fuzzy memory) to his apartment and told his mom to make us something, and he came back with some of the best (and cheapest) food i had that year, apart from trattoria kick-ass, that is. man, now i need a cupcake, too.

An airborne toxic event in the Ukraine!

Oh boy that was some good food! I think it was in Catania.

AND after yesterday's discussion, I finally made it to HP. What a great job of editing down the book!

Grr, people are real spoilsports. Can't they wait THREE MORE DAYS??

I love the little Harry Potter series capsule the Times feels the need to put at the end of every article about the books. I wish they'd do the same thing for every article.

"Voters have been questioning whether Shitwit has a single functioning braincell for years now, due largely to his tendency to say incredibly ass-brained things like this."

CK -- Tuesday, July 17 2007, 03:51 pm

15, are you coming to the Harry and the Potters concert on Thursday at the Beergarden? Say yes! (Same for the rest of you NYC-area FBtF/HP fans . . .)

Bullfrog -- Tuesday, July 17 2007, 03:55 pm

In case anyone's wondering what CK's talking about:

I am particularly excited about Draco and the Malfoys performing "My Dad Is Rich and Your Dad Is Dead."

Bullfrog -- Tuesday, July 17 2007, 03:56 pm

I was thinking of bringing my Harry Potter Clue game that Di gave me for Christmas backs when in 2000 along for between-set entertainment, if I can figure out the rules.

2.0 -- Tuesday, July 17 2007, 04:10 pm

I'm totally coming, and bringing a wagon train of people (OK, really it's two or three people in addition to Jeremiah).

Bullfrog -- Tuesday, July 17 2007, 04:22 pm

"Backs when in 2000 along for between..." What? I'm clearly drunk at the office again.

15 -- Tuesday, July 17 2007, 04:51 pm

My sister and I were totally going to come, and then yesterday I got my dates mixed up and agreed to usher at Spring Awakening thursday night (I thought the 19th was wednesday for some reason).

I'm totally bummed, too, because I jsut bought Harry Potter cupcake liners - was going to make a batch and bring them with me!

Boo disorganization!

Bullfrog -- Tuesday, July 17 2007, 04:55 pm

That post is such an incredible window into 15's universe. Seriously, each line is just wrought with information.

And now I'm going home.

miyaa -- Tuesday, July 17 2007, 05:25 pm

It was Ron with the Magical Wand, on Hermione's bed.

...

What?

CK -- Tuesday, July 17 2007, 05:36 pm

Yup, she just needed to work a reference to the Cards in there somehow . . .

Sorry not to see you, 15!

Bullfrog -- Tuesday, July 17 2007, 07:34 pm

No, even that - her handle is the Cards' centerfielder.
