Comic for Wednesday, July 11th, 2007

A scene from Diner.

Posted: 5:00 am, Wednesday, July 11th

Bright and freaking early post today. Actually, it's probably still dark. Anyway, we're off to the hospital - 2.0's getting a bit of surgery on her arm. I'll probably be checking in throughout the day, but I doubt you'll hear much from me 'til ten or so. We'll let you know how it went - hopefully better than my quest for Penn State tickets.

In addition to disdaining air conditioning, I usually opt for death before cabs. (This is ironical, because I've gotten a cab and bought an air conditioner in the last two weeks.) Seriously, a monthly pass is $76, and if I'm out late enough to need a cab, I'm usually in a condition where the long ride won't really bother me, anyway.

I am so stoked for whatever the hell this is, already.

Alright, so that's all for right now. Except I have this thing to entertain you. Enjoy!

MNP -- Wednesday, July 11 2007, 07:55 am

Darn it, I lost too.

RAW -- Wednesday, July 11 2007, 08:54 am

Holy crap, I actually won tickets this year. I won for Georgia Tech and lost for Michigan State.

e -- Wednesday, July 11 2007, 09:00 am

Dagnabit! I lost, too. How did I lose the Navy game in November? Seriously, who else *wanted* that game? I get losing PSU, but Navy!?!?

Whitey -- Wednesday, July 11 2007, 10:24 am

I'll need to check in with the in-laws, but I'm sure we didn't get any tix.

Does the Dance of 1,000 Rons ever end?

That's pretty cool shit. Where's the T-Shirt!

crownover -- Wednesday, July 11 2007, 10:48 am

I totally forgot my number at home, so can't check the lottery! booooooooooooo. Sometimes I'm so smart.

tree -- Wednesday, July 11 2007, 11:01 am

I got tickets (GT & UCLA) for the first time in 3 years.

Whitey -- Wednesday, July 11 2007, 11:07 am

e-

Maybe everyone put in for Navy figuring they wouldn't get any other game?

That (only slightly) gets my hopes up as we only put in for the Spoiled Children game.

15 -- Wednesday, July 11 2007, 11:28 am

despite my $76 monthly investment, I've recently discovered that it sometimes pays to take a cab.

(Left my BRAND NEW ipod on the subway on Saturday night @ 3 am when I was too stubborn to admit I shouldn't have been taking the subway in that condition. Grr julia!)

Bullfrog -- Wednesday, July 11 2007, 11:54 am

Disaster, 15! I'd be so upset. Which I'm sure is a great comfort to you. Oh, man, that sucks. (My own tale of woe, the only time I left stuff behind was my wallet, in a cab. Ugh, that was not a fun day.)

2.0's home and whole, y'all.

Sweaty -- Wednesday, July 11 2007, 01:12 pm

Holy crap I lost for all four games that I put in for: PSU, BC, MSU, and USC. I can't flipping believe it.

Bullfrog -- Wednesday, July 11 2007, 01:20 pm

You know why, Sweats?

Bullfrog -- Wednesday, July 11 2007, 01:33 pm

Because you suck.

Pat -- Wednesday, July 11 2007, 02:09 pm

I'm with you on the subway thing, most of the time. (When you're wasted, a cab is often a better option than a $50 citation for sleeping on the subway. True story!) I was known more than once to make a girl wait on the subway platform with me to get back for some "you know".

That's just how I roll.

crownover -- Wednesday, July 11 2007, 02:35 pm

Thanks Francis!!! Sweet -- I won Georgia Tech. First time I've EVER gotten tickets through this.

Bullfrog -- Wednesday, July 11 2007, 02:38 pm

I've never been ticketed for napping on the subway - induced napping, that is, not normal napping, in which case I'd be in danger of a ticket almost every night on my commute home.

And, man, the wait for the N/R is so damned long that it just helps build the tension and anticipation. Or makes her fall asleep. One or the other. I don't miss that train.

2.0--Sans Mr. Lumpy -- Wednesday, July 11 2007, 03:35 pm

Once a year, at Christmastime, Jeremiah makes his annual winter visit to Coney Island. This, a result of the spouse-free company party where Jeremiah's voice of reason (ie. moi) is not invited.

He'll call me and say he's on his way home, which I know means I will see him in another 3 hours.

Miyaa -- Wednesday, July 11 2007, 05:41 pm

Mr. Lumpy? Do you have an extra hand growing where your elbow should be, 2.0?

(Me, I have armpit warts. Or I'm growing teats in all the wrong places. I haven't yet decided. Either way, I don't want to be starting to put duct tape on my armpits.)
