Comic for Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

It would've been handy if I had run this strip on Monday, since there was some Potter chat going on in the comments that day, but unfortunately, I just got to drawing it last night. By the way, you can tell from the orange bag Ron's producing his salmon steak from that he shops for fish in Chinatown, a practice I - and this will shock you, I'm sure - wholly endorse. Except I got some bad mussels there a few weeks ago, which we happily did not consume. Aside from that, we've been doing our fishmongering there for three-plus years now, and it's never failed us.
How awesome is the internet? The Wilco show was online less than 12 hours after the boys left the stage. Granted, I have no idea what the hell a .flac file is. OK, apparently, it's free lossless audio codec. Apparently, it will take some tinkering to get this sucker up and running on iTunes. Well, alrighty, then. At least I have it in the meantime.
There may perhaps be hope for the future. Of course, then they'll make money and be tempted by the dark side. Maybe if we get them reading Harper's while they're young, we can prevent that. Or depress them so badly that they'll kill themselves out of despair for the future before ever getting around to pulling down six figures. (Three stories from that Harper's - the two-headed snake, and Facebook users are smarter than MySpacers, and the vanishing lake in the Andes, which had a vanishing link in CNN, or I'd link to it, since Whitey sent me that article last week.)(Run-on sentence, I know. What can you do?)
I actually really liked that one Verve album, so this is welcome news.
Damn Seattle, I want 50 wins by July!

Grafe -- Wednesday, June 27 2007, 08:03 am what ever happened to your polls? That was a short lived experiment.
Bullfrog -- Wednesday, June 27 2007, 08:24 am Limited attention span, basically, and increased workload at the office with my coworker inconsiderately having a baby a few weeks ago. They're not gone for good, so no worries there.
drolett -- Wednesday, June 27 2007, 09:26 am babe, just got back from a long weekend in colorado and looked at my calendar - happy belated birthday! (mi dispiace)
my brothers and sister-in-law just did the ride the rockies bike thing, and i am in awe of their beastliness. they hauled ass for 7 days and something like 500 miles and they crossed the continental divide 3 times. i think the website is as simple as www.ridetherockies.com, though i could be mistaken. it's nuts, and i am so proud of them! (my dad was going to do it, too, but broke his collarbone on a training ride 2 weeks before the tour started.) but, i was out of touch for a few days there, but did want to send my bday greetings. and, also wanted to note that the last harry potter book comes out on my birthday, so harry better not die or it will be my worst birthday EVER.
Whitey -- Wednesday, June 27 2007, 09:53 am I guess I sent it through CNN, because I can't find the e-mail I sent. Here's the address:
http://www.cnn.com/2007/TECH/science/06/21/missing.lake.ap/index.html
So whoever's interested in the vanishing lake will have to drag and drop... the old fashioned way!
Whitey -- Wednesday, June 27 2007, 09:54 am Ah... or it will pop up as a hypertext after I post....
drolett -- Wednesday, June 27 2007, 10:48 am i am trying to picture one two-headed hermaphrodite snake trying to mate with another. fascinating.
Bullfrog -- Wednesday, June 27 2007, 01:10 pm I don't care two good God damns about the NBA, but the frequently linked-to (from other sources) Gilbert Arenas blog is, in fact, really funny. My favorite is this snippet:
I’m writing a book. It ain’t going to be the T.O. “I Need My Ball” or whatever that book was called.
"I Need My Ball." That's awesome.
