Comic for Friday, May 25th, 2007

Posted: 7:28 am, Friday, May 25th
Two random backgrounds in one week - that's a lot for me. Eh, just thought it was kind of nice. Man, it took me forever to find that shot of Bo Jackson. Actually, I think I had to download Nesticle and a Tecmo ROM and screencap the touchdown. Yeah, that's how dedicated I am. I like Pete's mustache line - you just can't make him talk about what he doesn't want to talk about.
We're around on Memorial Day, but we'll probably be a bit late, since I don't have to work. Thank God for a long weekend. Also, my half-day Fridays kick in later today, so that's exciting. Probably less so for you guys, though.
EEEEE!
Man, Lungren comes off sounding like a snake-oil salesman here.
The Morning News hands out their annual Web Excellence Awards. Some sweet sweet sites there. I like Said the Gramophone a lot, and this BibliOdyssey thing is pretty cool. And Joost sounds rockin' to a bunny-eared Luddite like myself.
Oh, man, another site that updates several times daily? About food? Rockin'.
Are you ready for a fucking mind-blowing Harry Potter 7 theory? Seriously, this could actually short out all of your synapses. Don't say I didn't warn you. Back? I don't particularly buy it. But I do find it freaking fascinating.
Alright! Holiday weekend! Everyone rock out and enjoy themselves.

Bullfrog -- Friday, May 25 2007, 08:48 am Once again, Good Morning America has brought the LCD to Bryant Park. Fergie is currently performing across the street from my office.
Bullfrog -- Friday, May 25 2007, 09:30 am Happy birthday, Father Ted.

15 -- Friday, May 25 2007, 09:44 am I'm not buying that theory even a little. It's well researched, though!
Zero -- Friday, May 25 2007, 09:55 am I give you this to destroy whatever productivity you might have hoped for on your half-day of work:

Bullfrog -- Friday, May 25 2007, 10:18 am 680 on the first try. *What* is the deal with people giving me work to do today?!
2.0 -- Friday, May 25 2007, 10:59 am That theory makes me sad.
Bullfrog -- Friday, May 25 2007, 12:32 pm 907.
Miyaa -- Friday, May 25 2007, 12:57 pm You know, the bookie really needs to make an appearance.
That Harry Potter theory is so crazy, it just might work.
Bullfrog -- Friday, May 25 2007, 01:16 pm I just totally realized I should've laid the Touchdown Bo Jackson! screencap over the boys, and made it transparent. Shit.
MJL -- Friday, May 25 2007, 02:04 pm Why release the 2007 web excellence awards in May? Don't we have like 7 months to go. What if fivebuckstofriday launches an interactive Pete and Ron choose-your-own adventure in September? Will it not be considered?
MJL -- Friday, May 25 2007, 02:05 pm Curses. handdrawngames domain has been blocked by the productivity-enhancing IT department.
Dan -- Friday, May 25 2007, 02:12 pm I'll buy the theory with a big grain of salt. I'll make the following assumptions:
1) J K Rowling can write sophisticated, detailed stories
2) J K Rowling might have the wherewithal, the gumption, to feint with Snape and attack with McGonagall.
If these books were all at the same level as, say, the first book, I'd completely discount this theory, because she'd have to keep it somewhat straightforward for the little tykes. But books 2-6 were not on the same level, and I doubt 7 will be, either. They're sort of in the mold of the LOTR stories.
For as long as the books have been out, there's been heated debate over whether Snape is Good or Bad. Whose side is he on? Maybe that all IS a red herring, and that we should be worried about someone else. Because if Snape turns out bad, it's ok, you saw it coming, and if he turns out good, it's ok, you saw THAT coming as well. But McGonagall turning out bad? Who could see that coming? If there are clues, they're mighty subtle.
Logger -- Friday, May 25 2007, 02:17 pm If you liked Desktop TD, you'll probably like this one as well.

Zero -- Friday, May 25 2007, 02:54 pm My guess? Snape dies saving Harry.

Pat -- Friday, May 25 2007, 03:02 pm The first thing on that Morning News list I read was a diss of my employer's new Umansky-less Today's Papers. Yet in an even more bizarre irony, they're instead promoting my old employer as a better alternative. Really, come on now. I'm the shit, so via the transitive shit property, Slate is the shit.
Bullfrog -- Friday, May 25 2007, 10:31 pm And since there is no arguing that you are the shit, Pat, and because you visit this site, that makes this site the shit, correct?
No wise-ass remove the "the" in there, either. I've got my eye on you all.
