Comic for Monday, May 21st, 2007

OK, so, welcome anyone who found the place via the Project Wonderful ads I put out there. I figured I m'ise well try and advertise the strip a bit, and that seemed like the way that involved the least amount of effort on my part. Thanks for stoppin' by, feel free to stay a while. Uh, I suppose a good way to acclimate yourself to the nonsense that's going on would be the Cast page, newly updated to be vaguely current.
So, I'm trying to enjoy my freaking Sports Illustrated the other day, and I get stuck looking at Jeter's stupid mug twice in the course of the magazine. What's really funny is the ads, though.

Now, clearly, he's in a better position to advertise a watch in the Avon ad. And were the Movado ad not in B&W, I'd say he's in a better position to market skin-care products in the watch ad. But that watch ad - why the hell would this make me buy an expensive watch? The most ridiculous thing is actually the text on the Driven ad. I've mentioned the lameness of the Be tough on yourself, Be good to your skin tagline, but in the small type you probably can't read, it describes the products floating in that weird blue frame. The final one is "TREAT - Daily Moisturizer with SPF to smooth and protect your magnificent mug." Dear God.
I missed it last week, but Uni Watch Blog had their first blog-o-versary the other day, and announced a membership plan as a way to generate some cash. I actually think that's a pretty cool idea. My member number would totally be 37.
Oh, man, speaking of 37, we played a softball game on Friday and just got shellacked. 12-0, mercied out after four innings. Just awful. We played a few extra innings of scrimmage with our opponents, and I took to the mound. It became abundantly clear why I am an outfielder within three batters. Pro: I did not walk anyone. Con: I did not retire anyone. Well, I did, eventually, but not before a few mighty whallops. I did strike out one of their batters. A girl. I felt lame about it. Put me back in center, coach.
I don't know how in God's name I've never seen this, but, man, the Dugout owns. I cannot get enough of this site.
Shockingly, the new Pumpkins song is actually kind of awesome. I honestly did not expect this to happen. It sounds like it came off of Gish. Other music news - man, Lily Allen is hilarious.
Oh, dear God. The Bryant Park film series was finally just announced - Casablanca! Psycho! The Sting! The Thing From Another World! (And because Tree will disown me if I don't say it) Annie Hall! WHOO!
Alright, so. Everyone go out there and do their best this Monday.

Pat -- Monday, May 21 2007, 09:51 am Good on ya for both pop-culture references. "Ohhh, Dr. Zaius" was one of the great Simpsons episodes ever. And you can't mess with Sir Mixalot.
Bullfrog -- Monday, May 21 2007, 09:56 am You've finally made a monkey out of me-e-e-e-e-e!
Miyaa -- Monday, May 21 2007, 10:25 am The Ludacris bit from last night's Simpson episode was hilarious. (I want dental floss choking the life out of cavities.) I want the Simpsons animators to do all the public service ads for the next five years.
Ah, Sir Mixalot. When rap was actually good and funny.
Bullfrog -- Monday, May 21 2007, 10:29 am Check out a few tracks of the Coup's Pick a Bigger Weapon. I Love Boosters! is hilarious.
