Talkin' softball.

Posted: 7:50 am, Monday, April 16th

Hola from St. Augustine, Florida, gang. Short entry today, because I'm on vacation and so very, very tired. By some miracle, we made it out of JFK yesterday right before an insane storm hit the area. We arrived at Jacksonville to learn that our flight had been cancelled - which was pretty interesting, since, you know, we were now at our destination. Whew!

Um, so, anyway. I know I had things I wanted to write about today, but I can't for the life of me think of them. Happy birthday to 15 and her friend the Storyteller. Good luck to the Cards against the mighty mighty Pittsburgh Pirates tonight, on her behalf.

(Wednesday, by the way, is a little up in the air, stripwise - I had intended to work on it on Saturday, but instead was at the office all day long. But it'll probably happen.)

Hey,

It was great seeing you and Meredith on Friday! I wish we could have had more of a chance to catch up. It's pouring here, and very gray, so I hope you're really enjoying not being here!

Have a great trip,

Nina

Inagural trip to south bend went pretty well. I made the mistake of signing the first apartment I went to and then informing the Business school that I didnt need to be in the on campus housing lottery anymore. The woman behind the desk (probably 65 or so) gave me a look reminicent of my grandmother when I had done something heinous. Turtle Creek aparently is not where they would prefer the MBAs to be.

I also had the esteemed pleasure of shotgunning a beer in Alumni Hall. I did a quick walkaround before everything started up and upon finishing found myself next to Alumni. A window up on the second floor opens and I hear "Hey, you in the tie! Get up here!" I wander up, hang out for a few, instruct the young lads on proper beer shotgunning technique. Undergraduates just dont have the years in to learn the super quick shotgun without spillage.

Beyond that, boozing at Corby and the Linebacker on the business school. Looks like next year could be phenomenal.

I've never heard of the "super quick shotgun" method of drinking. Do tell more...

Why thank you kind sir! I informed the storyteller she's mentioned here, I think she'll get a kick out of that!

Ah, Turtle Creek - be ready for Rally in the Alley! Also, I recommend disposable shoes for future 'Backer experiences.

The accelerated shotgun proceedure involves sucking the beer from the hole in the can while crushing it instead of allowing gravity to do its thing. Much like the Statue of the Crane if done properly no can defend. If done improperly you swallow a bunch of air in the stomach and beer in the lungs.

Practice makes perfect

Only beer drinking would involve mechanisms that sound like martial art techniques.

I love Lissa's top -- is it readily available in a store near me? ;-) (Or does she get free Anthropologie samples from her sis?)
