Comic for Monday, April 2nd, 2007

Hey, no more traveling back and forth.

Posted: 8:45 am, Monday, April 2nd

It's a balmy 49 out there right now in the Big Apple, so of course the AC is cranked to 11 in my office. I think it's actually warmer outside, and it's certainly less breezy. I've never understood how we have seemingly so little control over the climate in this place. I've oftentimes thought that my company was a money-laundering front and that the office space was a psychology experiment. Generally, these times fall on days like today.

Happy Passover to my Chosen Readers. 2.0 and I got back from one of our frequent trips up to Kingston yesterday to find a home video of a Seder on PBS in these parts. I'm assuming that they donated at the fifty thousand dollar level - you get a free tote and the rights to produce a one-hour special on a subject of your choosing.

I saw a lot of art on Saturday, but of equal interest and easier to relay without having an art degree or visual aids are the culinary tales of Chinatown. A friend of mine recently spent six months unemployed and basically wandering the city finding the cheapest grub possible, and a good deal of it was in Chinatown. Three dollar dumpling and soup orders! One dollar kebobs under the bridge! A ninety-two cent hot dog sold from a pawn shop! I already do most of my fish purchasing in Chinatown, but I think I need to start hitting that place more often. After all, there's a wedding to pay for.

I have already been DQed from the Kotaku PS3 contest, due to an incorrect amount of hats in my guess. And by "my guess," I mean, "the number that RAW basically told me, because he did all the work." That's a shame.

This is going to play hell with my parents. And also from the Consumerist, I did this yesterday. I am very proud of myself. Al Gore is watching!

Two big openings today - the Sox take up their gloves for another fun-filled season of hijinks and pain at four fifteen against Gil Meche and his Royals of Kansas City, and at... gee, I don't really know when, but later in the afternoon, I am apparently manning centerfield in the opener for my company's softball season. If the weather holds, which it is supposed to. Fun for all!

By the way, catching up on some sites from over the weekend, I'm glad I mostly missed April Fool's Day on the internet.

RAW -- Monday, April 2 2007, 09:29 am

The worst April Fool's joke I endured yesterday was the Adult Swim "world premiere" of the ATHF movie. They showed the first 5 minutes or so of the movie and then minimized it to a tiny box (something like 20 by 10 pixels) in the bottom left corner while the normal Adult Swim lineup played.

Bullfrog -- Monday, April 2 2007, 09:54 am

I nearly had a heart attack at Blue-Gray Sky's reporting that the Irish had scheduled DIII Mount Union.

Miyaa -- Monday, April 2 2007, 10:59 am

Yup. Your Red Sox vs. the Kansas City Royals at 4:11 pm EDT. And Dice-K gets to pitch in the last game of the three-game series. And that will probably be about 90% of the ticket sales the Royals will get this year at home. They aren't going to break fifty wins this year. No, I am not bitter.

Bullfrog -- Monday, April 2 2007, 01:14 pm

Ah, Pavano giving up leadoff hits and the always-loathsome John Sterling polluting the airwaves. Spring is here, indeed.

Bullfrog -- Monday, April 2 2007, 01:15 pm

And dear Lord, the MLB gametracker thing sure is complex now.

Bullfrog -- Monday, April 2 2007, 01:17 pm

And A-Rod has been booed already. Fantastic.

Bullfrog -- Monday, April 2 2007, 01:22 pm

And at 1:22, I've already had enough of that ass to last me the season. "Baseball cathedral" my ass. I wish I push the plunger on that place.

Bullfrog -- Monday, April 2 2007, 01:37 pm

Kazmir, looking fantastic. I'm glad I'm listening to the Phillies and Braves, instead.
