Comic for Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

Ashton Kutcher ain't got nothin' on Pete.

Posted: 8:40 am, Wednesday, March 21st

I spelled Rachel McAdams wrong, but I don't have the native Illustrator file on me to change it. So, uh, whoops.

Supposedly, today is the day I get my computer back, although I think Dell actually just lost it or threw it out or something. I can't get that effing thing fast enough, though. I am like shaking for want of music. Among the releases I've heard nothing of is the new Ted Leo - KT talked him up to me a while back, and I got a concert of his from Valentine's in Albany off the late, great rbally.net. Anyway, the AV Club likee, which is recommendation enough for me to at least swipe some tracks from on-line and probably actually buy it (gotta support the Rockin' Irish, after all).

Other music: Dear Lord, I can't even imagine what a Bjork concert would be like. Tree and I looked into one several years ago, but she was touring with a ninety-person chorus or something like that and tickets were what we at the time considered to be exorbitantly expensive. I haven't found a pricetag on these suckers yet, but hopefully they're not terrible. Bjork's show at the Apollo: Is this more or less radically out of place than the time Korn played there? Bjork is from Iceland and therefore probably one of the whitest people alive. Korn, on the other hand, is Korn.

Andrew W.K., sounding suspiciously like the godhead buddha of rock.

The rock simply refuses to stop: I have not heard this song, but I admire the disection of it, and am left to surmise that I would hate the song if I did hear it.

You know what I love? Those anti-pot ads running right now where the dog is always disappointed in his stoner owner. That is some quality entertainment. And don't miss the rest of the site - who needs mind-altering drugs when you could just watch that site all day?

Been a while since I've posted anything about grafitti.

Having overreacted to the Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Boston maybe played this one a bit calmer than they should've. I mean, last I knew they were threatening the Lite Brite kids with jail time - encouraging the desecrating of a graveyard seems like it may be worthy of jail, too, no?

And with this, my purchasing a PS3 becomes more likely. I'm sure you all know what happens in October, but, if I may remind you.

OK, I'd say I've made a huge raging dork of myself quite long enough, thank you.

That's the second Korn reference in a week. Man, but they sucked. They were the first band that came out where I said, "Hmm, OK, this wants to be grunge, but it's really trying too hard, and all the feeling in it seems really manufactured. I believe grunge and the good music that came with it is now officially over."

And I was right.

Bullfrog -- Wednesday, March 21 2007, 08:50 am

Really? I've been working a lot lately, so I'm pretty frazzled.

I had a very contrived simile re: Notre Dame's first game of the year being like Christmas morning and how then the opening of spring camp is kind of like a visit from the Tooth Fairy, but I didn't really have the energy to follow through with it. So I'll just throw up a link to BGS's spring preview:

I am going to do large amounts of work just for a slice of peperoni.

Bullfrog -- Wednesday, March 21 2007, 11:06 am

You completely lost me, man.

Bullfrog -- Wednesday, March 21 2007, 12:09 pm

OK, so rbally.net is perhaps not late, and the archive's lost, so it's a little less great. Still, I'm glad to have it back. Dude posts some excellent shows.

I haven't heard the new Ted Leo yet, but I heard he has tried to infuse some, like, reggae sounds into his usual punk style - so that could either be really good or really not so much good. There is a bunch of music that has either just come out or is about to come out that I have to check out soon - like the new Arcade Fire, the new Modest Mouse or that Bright Eyes EP. I am going to see Bloc Party this Friday, so that should be good.

I think I'm going to catch the National at the end of May - party music if there ever was such a thing!

KT -- Wednesday, March 21 2007, 06:00 pm

I absolutely love the National! Their album Alligator has been one of my favorites for awhile. I saw them this past summer and they were even better live. Have a good time!
