Organic growth!

Posted: 8:55 am, Wednesday, January 31st

This was kind of a nice surprise to write - I had no intention of this happening, it just kind of *did*. I like it when stuff like that happens. You'd never believe this, but I actually do kind of know where things are going, by and large.

I have to throw some links up there real quick because I'm pretending not to be in the office yet and I think I'm needed in some meeting or something.

Hat tip to Something Awful, but Mike Nelson is alive and well! I was always a Joel guy, honestly, but the knowledge that MST3K lives on in some way, shape or form is very soothing. I've based the second half of my life on the values embodied by that show, don'tcha know? Fugitive Alien 2 remains two of the most deliriously joyful hours of television I've ever seen. They tried to kill me with a forklift. Brilliant.

I know it's horrible, but the first thing I thought when Barbaro was put down was, "There will be poetry." And there is.

Nice work by (I'm assuming) Kurt Snibbe keeping the graphics current with the Page 2 redesign. Chump.

So, among the many inconveniences with my laptop being down, are that the fucking Lily Allen CD finally came out stateside and not only can I not buy the damn thing of iTunes, there's no real point in me going and buying the honest-to-God CD, because I don't have anything in my house that can play it. I guess the PS2 plays CDs, but that's about it. This is killing me. Argh.

Anyway, I guess that's it for me. I'm no happier about it than you are.

I was going to say "Mennonite" in the third panel, but for some reason I can't recall, we looked up Mennonites on wikipedia this past weekend, and they don't necessarily shun technology.

And something has to be *really* sweet to make one's ears bleed.

For those with exorbitant student loans to pay, the Onion feels ya.

Having going to a college surrounded by Mennonite communities, I can say they at least don't shun the Super Walmart! (And although Walmart had hitching posts for buggies in the parking lot, the mode of transportation was generally automobile)

"Sweetest MOFO to ever walk the earth."

I have to get that added to my business card.

Our HR staff is letting us wear Bears jerseys over our shirts and ties on Friday. Wooo Freakin' Hooo. I swear we're one of the last companies on earth to not even have casual Fridays.

Not too many former Irish on these two teams. Indy's got Hunter Smith, Rocky Boiman and Jerome Collins (on IR) while the Bears only have Mark LeVoir on the Practice Squad. Neither team has a SC Trojan amongst them.

Go Bears!

Luddite, I think is the way to go there.

Yeah, but I wanted to imply strict religious doctrine, also. "Amish guy," though, you'd think I could do better than "Amish guy."
