Seriously, we're all going to die.

Posted: 7:35 am, Monday, January 8th

Apologies to any readers I may have in the Denver area, but, God, this weather shouldn't be. It's one thing that it's so beautiful out when it should be bitterly cold, but the real kicker to me is that the weather lady on the morning news that 2.0 and I watch is so uber-psyched about the weather. Linda Church, I don't know, maybe you should be concerned, instead? We've already set the record for latest-ever snowfall in Central Park (hasn't happened yet), and the coldest it gets on the five-day forecast this week is 49.

On the other hand, at least we'll all be nice and tan for when the City goes underwater.

I wasn't going to write anything at all right now, because I'm astoundingly tired, but then I started reading a Pajiba review for the Cleaner or whatever it's called, and the first few paragraphs were so awesome that I had to comment now before I forgot. First off, it uses "megaloathe" only days after the word debuted on Scrubs, which I thought was pretty good. Then it contains this bit:

It’s tantamount to drunkenly accepting the advances of the uber-nice, hairy-chinned coed with a face full of pustules simply because you don’t want to hurt her feelings.

I had no idea my old roommate wrote for Pajiba.

Check out this article about the trials (or lack thereof) of Ugie Urbina, former poor closer for the Red Sox and excellent closer for several other organizations. It looks as if he's been framed for a pretty brutal murder in his homeland of Venezuela as some sort of retribution for not paying the ransom on his kidnapped mother a few years ago. Crazy-ass article, very good job by the Metsquire.

One of my coworkers sent me this the other day - we're getting the greenlight to decorate our design area in the near future, and this is his idea for it. I have to say, for an insane megalomaniac, Martha Stewart really *does* have good taste.

I got an email this morning from a friend in New Zealand (where it's summer) who said there were ice bergs floating several kms off the coast - some of them were more than a kilometer long! Crazy weather around the world! Finally rented "Inconvenient Truth" but Grafe and I haven't prepared to be depressed enough to watch it yet.

Grafe -- Monday, January 8 2007, 09:10 am

Yeah, so we watched hotel rwanda instead. that was chipper.

Bullfrog -- Monday, January 8 2007, 09:20 am

Oh, man, 2.0 watched that one on a trip home one time. I got a call that I could not understand in the slightest through all the crying. I will never watch that film.

We watched Goldeneye last night - it does not age well.

Now that they've more or less ruled out terrorism, I feel like I can joke about the gas smell in Manhattan.

Unfortunately, since my humor is pretty dark in matters like this, all of my jokes revolved around the city blowing up and how there probably wouldn't be an update tomorrow. So now all I'm left with is making fun of the spelling of Jersey City's mayor's name.

Man, kind of a downer day today, huh? I guess it being the first full work week of the year (for most) and it being the Monday of said week...

Actually rooting for tOSU tonight, if anyone cares about the NC game (money involved). I have a buddy who's a fan of the Tree Seeds and he even said he's having a hard time getting revved up for the game.

Good to hear NYC is not blowing up.

Bullfrog -- Monday, January 8 2007, 01:34 pm

Reggie Ho and I were discussing the game and the lack of caring about it, also. I'm rooting for tOSU because Urban Meyer is a weenie.

Austin had a weird thing this morning with 12 (or 60, sources vary, though that seems like a pretty big variance) dead birds and two nauseated police officers causing 12 or so downtown blocks to be shut down. No idea what caused it, but lots of people got an extra morning off.

Kind of makes you wonder what we would have assumed caused it pre-9/11. Or if it would have bothered to be national news.

But there are all kinds of jokes about hot air killing the birds as the legislators are finally back in town for their bi-annual session.
