Yeah. I don't know.
2.0's mom pointed out something I should've spouted off about a few weeks ago, that McDonald's was giving out Hummers in their Happy Meals. I think the offer's over already, but here's the skinny, if you're interested. I doubt I really have to say much - is anyone shocked that McDonald's is irresponsible? Two points of interest from that Times article, though; one is that, by God, it's creepy that they refer to everyone as 'guests' instead of 'customers.' The other is that Disney split from McDonald's for toy promotions. I hadn't heard about that. Evidently, it is for encouraging reasons - Disney didn't so much want to be associated with the fattening of America's little ones. I'm going to go ahead and be cynical and say it's because they don't want to have to refit Space Mountain for plus-size kiddies. I do find it hilarious that McD's went from Disney to GM for Happy Meal toy ideas, though. Further delving into this out-of-date story, here's an online petition telling McDonald's to be less stupid. Also, make your own McDonald's sign!
That was fun. Looking around the internets for all this stuff, I tripped over this blog about fast food industry news, which is actually pretty cool.
From 1up yesterday, the first PS3 ad. This makes me not even think about a PS3, but rather about finding a competitive stacker and whaling on them for half an hour.
Also, hey, the Voice had an article about 'casual games,' which seem to mean 'things other than Hearts or Solitaire you can play at the office without drawing attention to yourself.' I tried out the Sims Pinball that they linked to, and it's OK, but ran slower than standard Windows Pinball, which is aggravating. I guess PopCap is still the one to beat when it comes to slacking off.
I think there's something fishy going on at MySpace - they've allowed two guys to register as Michael Jackson when, clearly, there can be only one. Actually, whoa, check out this one - don't miss the bizarre 9/11 tribute(?) with MJ in it.

Bullfrog -- Wednesday, September 6 2006, 09:45 am Nice, MJL! I don't know why I thought of doing a summer recap strip - probably because I wanted to take it easy on drawing for a day (or two, hence the couch gag today) - but the whole damn thing felt like that ridiculous episode of Saved by the Bell to me, so I figured why not.
MJL -- Wednesday, September 6 2006, 04:55 pm Quiet today, Frog.
A huge revelation that I must share to an appreciative audience: I just got off the phone with the ND ticket office a few minutes ago (574.631.7356). As you might know, the old tailgating soccer fields on the South side of Edison now have some sort of building on them. If you drive to campus for a game, the only public parking is WAAAY North of the stadium. We're talking about a good hike beyond the NDFCU, and the St. Michael's facility, pretty much near the state line (Great Lakes, Great Times).
There are two lots on campus, much closer. Parking passes are available for all games except Penn State, for a cost of $25 (vs. $20 for the BFE parking). The one catch: they will only sell the passes to the alumni that won those particular tickets via the lottery.
Apparently they don't want hooligans like me to show up without tickets and drink themselves silly.
Anyway, besides the friendly lady on the phone, here is my other source: http://www.nd.edu/~ndspd/fbparking.html
Bullfrog -- Wednesday, September 6 2006, 06:36 pm Informative, thanks. I like the stance that the University is taking on tickets and privileges this year. They're coming down like holy hell on scalpers (including faculty who ditch their tickets), from everything I've heard. I'm curious to see how this weekend works out, since the Penn State boards are talking about a 'sea of white' or something.
