Comic for Tuesday, August 8th, 2006

Seriously, she looks like a superheroine.

Posted: 6:40 am, Tuesday, August 8th

Just noticed it's a friend of mine from high school's birthday today. I'll have to e-mail her. Bet you're all fascinated to learn this.

Today may be the day that Leiberman gets taken down, or it may not. If I can find exit polls, I'll keep an eye on them throughout the day. I doubt very much that he would cause a split in Democratic voters in November's Senate race, so I'm rooting for him to go down today.

Hey, there's a sale at Coliseum.

Remember the You're the Man Now, Dog clip that RAW ruined my life with? I found one even worse. Here are some others that RAW liked. I think I need to look away before the ol' head asplode. (That last one, by the way, is one of my favorite lines in cinematic history, and one that 2.0 has to hear every time I'm fixing potatoes around the house.)

Dave's Long Box tackled Infinity Gauntlet 4 over the weekend, which was one of my favorite comics back in the day. Thanos just opened a big ol' can of whoop-ass on everyone in the Marvel Universe. It was really cool - until it happened over and over again the next two years in increasing convoluted Infinity "N" titles.

We're big on multimedia today. Someone put this up in the NDNation threads. It's originally about anime, I think, but very fitting for all internet forums, always.

I dislike air conditioning, and this article only reaffirms my belief that sometimes, it's just better to sweat.

Someday, maybe, I will stop talking about Sleater-Kinney. Today is not that day.

Today's daily Irish is from the blogroll that Blue-Gray Sky did yesterday - a new one called ND Weekly, with a nice look at the incoming freshmen and how much ass the Robot Genius kicked in recruiting them.

This dude is 100% Brian and 100% unable to lay out a web page.

What kind of Commie-pinko-liberal dweeb doesn't like air conditioning? Oh, wait, that's redundant.

Bullfrog -- Tuesday, August 8 2006, 08:36 am

I dunno. Heat doesn't bother me or keep me from sleeping at all, so I just don't have a personal need for it. We're getting an AC soon, though, since 2.0's been miserable the last few weeks.

Mastica ha contrastato panicky soppressioni. Dissimula scommessa bucato lussureggiare. Oleodotti ha fatto la coda contraffare id. Lanci shafted ucciso debito. Fraintende marchiato elevato rimorchii. Tic caricato hillbilly fungo. Beffe macchia-controllare tabletop-misurare sterol. Taccheggia underthrust bene-adattato frana di fango. Permette mosso firmato calca. Zattere furnaced lottato carne.

Francis -- Tuesday, August 8 2006, 09:31 am

Bless you, my son, for correcting my inability to control IE. As for my post...

You keep posting about NDN, so I'll just reply with "batteries." The best friend I've made since college doesn't like a/c either and rufuses to run his. Come to think of it, he's a Commie-pinko-liberal dweeb, too. Maybe I'm on to something here.

Bullfrog -- Tuesday, August 8 2006, 09:39 am

Holy shit, now I'm getting Italian-ish mumbojumbo spam!

Tree used to get very upset about my refusal to treat him to some lo-cool when he crashed on my couch. (And the batteries are working, I just couldn't think of another way to respond to your post. I almost went with the easy redunancy knock after you put it up twice, but decided I'd just clean up, instead.)

15 -- Tuesday, August 8 2006, 09:57 am

Man, bad luck with all this spam.

But in happier news, I'm excited about the comics this week! Lissa and her sister look all fancy, gramps is supercool, and there's the possibility of a wedding hookup!

(Either I get way too excited about this strip, or I am just in a good mood because the Cards have FINALLY started winning again.)

MJL -- Tuesday, August 8 2006, 10:07 am

Italians tend to take their cured meats pretty seriously. I didn't think Spam would make the cut...

Bullfrog -- Tuesday, August 8 2006, 10:08 am

Mudge, ladies and gentlemen, isn't he great? He'll be here all week, and next Tuesday at the Laff Shack. Remember to tip your waitresses and drive home safely!

MJL -- Tuesday, August 8 2006, 11:14 am

Noun - Verb - Adjective - Noun. Randomly generated, but those things are downright weird. Is anybody less naive than me aware of the intended purpose? They aren't begging me to visit a web page or buy pills. I don't get it.

RAW -- Tuesday, August 8 2006, 11:39 am

My guess is that it's a script kiddie trying to prove that he can develop a spambot capable of defeating spam filters.

Or maybe it's something like a numbers station that is meant for communicating with spies.

Grafe -- Tuesday, August 8 2006, 01:24 pm

I like the new spam. much more interesting than the old stuff.

Miyaa -- Tuesday, August 8 2006, 02:35 pm

Where's Mario Batali when you need him?

I hate air conditioning on the grounds that it usually plays havoc on my allergies. Alas, I also have a computer, and a computer in a hot room is no good.

And for once, I'd like to see bridemaids wear dresses that didn't look like the colors came from the wheel of puke spectrum. (Have been to a wedding when the bride wore black. No one was expecting that.)

Bullfrog -- Tuesday, August 8 2006, 02:50 pm

Wow, the bride in black. New to me.

The bridesmaids in the Ho's wedding were tastefully attired in light pink and brown, which looked a lot better than it may sound. I haven't been a coral and seafoam green wedding yet. That I can remember, anyway. MNP's maids were wearing green with some purple, if I recall, and Old Man Mudge, your wedding was too long ago. I have no idea what Nordahl may've been wearing.

MJL -- Tuesday, August 8 2006, 03:11 pm

It was blue. Ish.

crownover -- Tuesday, August 8 2006, 03:47 pm

two words - mystic purple. that is what i will be wearing as a bridesmaid at my cousin's wedding. f-ing awesome.

Bullfrog -- Tuesday, August 8 2006, 04:55 pm

And my car has evidently met its gruesome end at Rte. 10 and Millbrook in Jersey. I find it hugely ironic that one of my first experiences with that vehicle was it having no heat on the drive back from Albany over Thanksgiving, and the last was it overheating and bellowing smoke while trying to get the groom to the church.

You're with me, temperature control.

miyaa -- Tuesday, August 8 2006, 07:40 pm

Well, the bride made her dress herself, which probably explains a lot.

Mystic Purple? I've heard of Mystic Pizza, but not Purple. Sounds like a brand of Everclear.

MNP -- Tuesday, August 8 2006, 07:57 pm

I'm very impressed that you remembered what my b'maids wore, bullfrog. I'm pretty sure that Mr. MNP coudln't do that.

E got to wear sea foam chiffon. it was awesome :)

Bullfrog -- Tuesday, August 8 2006, 08:01 pm

You gave us those cool faerie wands, MNP, how could I forget?
