Mmm, Frosted Sugar Bombs.

Posted:12:20 am, Thursday, July 20th

With all the trouble in the world today, is there no man to stand up and say, “Stop the insanity, America, and party until you puke”? Why, yes, there is. Like a phoenix from the ashes, Andrew W.K. rises, exactly when a party-depleted country needs him the most, with three albums in the next year and a half. The first one is evidently just being released in Japan (evidently, Andrew W.K. is apparently big in Japan. Wtf, no stateside release? Terrible job, music industry). You can nab a few songs from here and here, though. I'm listening to Pushing Drugs right now, and, boy, is it odd. I can honestly say I've never heard a song that chants "salivating" before.

I have long hypothesized to 2.0, who believes the month of October to be the ideal time to wear an ornate dress, that none of my friends would ever talk to me again if I were to require their attendance at a wedding opposite of an Irish game (especially now that we’re good again). This fellow’s rantings seem to back up that hypothesis.

And that's all you get, actually. Because I am super hungover. We had the office summer party yesterday, and, oh boy was that a disaster. Actually, the party was a lot of fun, but I paced my consumption to end with the official party. Why I ever do this is beyond me, because there's always an after-party where I then get bombed. Oh well. I didn't even have time to find a MySpace nightmare, so in its stead, here, read some Harry Potter fanfic.

Joshua says that he once attended a wedding during the Ohio State-Michigan game. Surprisingly well-attended (in body, if not in mind, as there were quite a few discrete headphones worn in the congregation).

I actually missed two games from the '02 season to be a wedding date - Pittsburgh and Florida State, the latter of which was a pretty big deal. As Crownover loves to share, I was checking the score on my cell phone pretty constantly during the Pitt game. Not my most shining moment.

My parents got married in September during a Michigan-Wisconsin game. Mom being from Wisconsin and Dad from Michigan, most of the reception was spent at the bar.

But Bullfrog - you were actually at a Georgetown game, not a wedding during the FSU game ;-)

That's true. And I had a radio with us, so that was OK.

As soon as the game ended, I called Tree, who did not have caller ID at the time (dorm phone). He answered, "YEEEEE-HA, MOTHERFUCKER!" with absolutely no idea who was calling. I loved that.

Bullfrog, you read this "Feeding the Monster" book? I'm intrigued..

Bullfrog -- Thursday, July 20 2006, 09:33 am

Not yet, no. I've heard good things, and I've been reading some of the excerpts he's been putting online. Baseball Musings wasn't blown away, but said it was worth checking out (if I recall correctly, which is no sure thing at the mo').

Fuck you, Pierre and Frankie, with your comment-spam bullshit.

Bullfrog -- Thursday, July 20 2006, 04:08 pm

And I say begone, foul spammers, begone!

And they were gone. I am not above using my website to facilitate a little god complex now and again.

Very nice site!

I'm just getting to listen to the Andrew W.K. songs right now. "Slam John Against a Brick Wall" is one of the most random songs I've ever heard in my life. I didn't know you could write more simple lyrics than those to "I Want to Have a Party," but he found a way.
