Comic for Tuesday, July 18th, 2006

One of my great regrets of never living in an apartment building - couldn't swipe papers.

Posted: 7:41 am, Tuesday, July 18th

The Goat Fuckers had to go and make part of the last panel incorrect. Handily, although unfortunately for the well-being of the planet, Shitwit did in fact say something stupid. Political ramifications aside, doesn't this guy ever check to see if the mic or camera near him is on? Jeez. Honestly, Shitwit's cursing into an open mic isn't surprising, nor is what he said particularly surprising - there wasn't exactly a chance he would suggest that maybe Israel was overreacting or overreaching their bounds or playing directly into Iran's expectations. It's just frustrating that this nit hasn't learned a friggin' thing in six years of living in a spotlight. Also, the tool doesn't even know the name of the Syrian president (a quarter way down). Argh.

Entertaining article about how critics' picks are straying further and further from the public's taste. The take at the box office can be kind of misleading, though, since once you pay your money, it really doesn't matter what you think of the film. 2.0 and I paid twenty-one bucks to see Pirates 2 (how aggravating is a ticket for $10.50?), and neither one of us felt anything more than lukewarm toward it.

Some quick hits so I can turn my computer off before it turns to molten slag underneath my fingertips.

The Irish are in trouble now, because Georgia Tech are training with ... Diamond Dallas Page. Wow.

Retrocrush podcast 85 is outstanding - it's a greatest hits edition featuring both the crazy "yo' butt ain't made for that" preacher and also Juggalo hate mail. Seriously, this one is worth the price of admission (free, coincidentally) for the Juggalo stuff alone.

A guy didn't get hired at a law firm and sent them a strongly worded e-mail about it. The legal branch of Five Bucks will like this.

The ever-rocking Hater had a great one about those edited flicks some dude out in Colorado was selling, that also had a link to wholesome swimsuits. Wow. As for the clean flicks, check out the user reviews. These are almost as out there as my old buddy CAP man. I love that there’s a clean edition for the Butterfly Effect. Tree saw that on a date one time (one of his two dates for the evening, if I recall correctly, Tree, you dog) and his review, if I recall correctly, “Entertainingly bad. I liked that the act of Ashton Kutcher reading tore the space-time continuum apart.” And check it out, they somehow took the gore out of 28 Days Later. I don't even know how or why you would edit this down to a PG. You'd have about two minutes of film.

I promised you MySpace horrorshows, I will deliver. The first is a sequel to Friday's, ~LoSInG u wUd b LiKe lOSiNg eVeRyThInG i HaVe~. I have a feeling I could stay in her circle of friends and never, ever, ever run out of MySpace nightmares. Honestly, this girl's site gets awesomer the further down you scroll. All the lectures on jealousy are fantastic. And because I skipped out on yesterday's, well, you can't get much nuttier than a Juggalo. Unless it's a Claymate.

The real problem:

"As part of his policy of isolating terror-supporting groups and nations, the Bush administration has no relationship with any of the other parties at war or the states behind them. That apparently means no dialogue, even through back channels, with Iran, Syria, Hizbullah and Hamas."

I only finally realized what exactly it was about Shitwit's gaffe there. It obviously wasn't the cursing, given my nickname for the guy (I find the time he called the Times guy a major-league asshole to be much more troubling than referring to any skullduggery over in the Middle East as 'shit'). It's the fact that everything's so damned black and white for this guy. That's just maddening, and a really foolish policy.

I just learned that Matt Leinart is in the park across the street from my office for some reason. As I'm fairly certain that I'd fly into a blind beserker rage and run him through with a folding chair if I got too close, I elect to not go to Bryant Park today on my lunch break.
