Comic for Monday, May 1st, 2006

Yeah, I don't have any idea. But I promise, I'm going to actually have a strip with a punchline again at some point in the future. Honest.
See, it's not just his illiteracy, history of drug abuse or frightening disbelief in science that worries me about Shitwit, it's his blatant disregard for the laws of this land. (Also, here. How shocking is it that not one link will hold all of the douchebaggery of the worst president in U.S. history?) By the way, speaking of Shitwit, if something happens to Stephen Colbert in the next few weeks, it's probably his doing. Check out the video linked from this page about Colbert's performance at the White House Correspondent's dinner from over the weekend. If you're at work, you can read about it here - Shitwit was evidently not very happy, and for good reason. It - is - scathing. Colbert gets a shot in on just about everyone. Colbert's hittin' it big this weekend - he was on 60 Minutes last night, too, meaning that he is now so well-known that my father asked me, "Who's this Coldbear guy? What channel is his show on?" Unfortunately, my parents still don't have cable, so Pop's out of luck.
You may have noticed that I threw a bunch of links up in the left-hand bar. I've been thinking about doing it for a while now, and finally got to it over the weekend. I thought it was kind of not-cool that most sites just have links up on the front page (especially those done in ye olde Blogger template) and I depend on people going to the (woefully ignored) Links page to get mine. So I figured I'd throw a bunch up there, but also keep the Links page for describing purposes. And because I think the Metrocard button I made is kind of cool. (Things like that basically ensure there will never be a site re-design.)
I had more that I wanted to write today - I think I had a lengthy missive planned about spring or something at one point during the weekend - but 2.0 wrenched her neck in her sleep last night and we basically sat around watching movies to try and keep her mind off it as much as possible today. So, basically, this is what you get. I hope everyone's enjoying themselves today, whatever they may be doing. If you're home from work today because we're all immigrants, that's fantastic - I've been burning through vacation days at a rate where I couldn't really afford to partake in this today. (And I've really been dropping the ball on this stuff lately - I heard about Saturday's mega peace march on Wednesday of last week. What the hell?) If you're celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Empire State Building, I commend you for your interest in architecture and civic history. If you're getting your PhD deep in the bowels of Duke's laboratories, have a cupcake with a candle on it, 'cause it's your birthday. And if you wear sox that are crimson, for God's sake, hit the friggin' ball tonight, will you? Crikey.

I was telling Jeremiah, I think Boston fans oughta toss fake
beards and wigs onto the field tonight in honor of Johnny's
return. I guess Boston's already on the anti-Damon swag:

ad -- Monday, May 1 2006, 08:37 am Totally randomlly, my grandfather claims that carrying his
trombone case around the south side of Chicago in the 1940s
late at night after a gig ensured his continued safety--
Part of me doesn't doubt it because without it he would have
made an easy mark.
MJL -- Monday, May 1 2006, 09:20 am The Redwings have been making me grumpy: a #1 seed down 3
games to 2 to a #8 seed in the first round of the playoff.
Boo.
E -- Monday, May 1 2006, 09:30 am There was marching all over DC this weekend. Yesterday was
to stop Genocide in Darfur.

Reggie Ho -- Monday, May 1 2006, 01:40 pm Reggie says the Wings shall prevail.
Grafe -- Monday, May 1 2006, 02:25 pm I read the rolling stone article and it reads like Bush
railroaded congress into the war, which totally wasn't true
(196-133 house, 77-23 senate, there's not that much of a
majority).
AND Bush may be the worst president ever, but what does
that say about congress for letting it happen (both the
republicans and democrats)? And what does it say about the
democrats that they've had two rounds of midterm elections
and one presidential election and have failed to capitalize
on anything?
Reggie Ho -- Monday, May 1 2006, 02:37 pm Reggie thinks those are very good points indeed.
Bullfrog -- Monday, May 1 2006, 03:11 pm It says that the whole lot of them should be voted out of
office. The Dems for being wishy-washy, and the Republicans
for existing.
Bullfrog -- Monday, May 1 2006, 03:46 pm I only just noticed I had Pete decked out in his Redwings
sweater.
Reggie Ho -- Monday, May 1 2006, 04:22 pm Aren't you the one who draws the strips? Is there some sort
of plagarism going on that you aren't familiar with the
content of your own strips? At least you're not alone. It
is very popular these days. Well, whoever drew the strip
has good taste including a Red Wings sweater in there.
Yzerman for president in '08.
2.0 -- Monday, May 1 2006, 04:29 pm Because 35% of the nation thinks Darwin was wrong, and the
remaining 22% or so who voted for that chimp-in-a-man-suit,
live their lives in fear of brown people. People in this
country want plain talking cowboys who vow to protect them.
An actual *plan* for the future is just too much to think
about. That's your voting public, and Congress--just like
you and I--want to remain employed.
The problem here is a total lack of critical thinking on
the part of the American people. We get what we vote for.
Bullfrog -- Monday, May 1 2006, 04:39 pm Yeah, Reg, but I draw them a few days in advance and then
generally just look at them to make sure I didn't mispell
anything or post a re-run by accident. I was wondering why
everyone was talking about the Wings.
Just read the Rolling Stone one a bit more closely than
the first time through. It does paint the entry into the war
with kind of a broad stroke, and I agree that the Congress
should've not sucked (always a good policy). I also think
that a pretty good case could be made for this being the
Worst Congress in History (and after the government
shut-down in '95, that's saying something). At any rate, I
don't think the actions (or lack thereof) of Congress
detract much from the idea of Shitwith as Worst President
Evar. (Could just be saying the same thing over again,
wouldn't be the first time.)
Bullfrog -- Monday, May 1 2006, 04:41 pm By the way, am I nuts, or does it honestly seem like 90% of
the time you go to "Printer Friendly View" of a Times
article, it works out so that the copyright info is the only
thing that appears on the last page?
Bullfrog -- Monday, May 1 2006, 10:35 pm And Small loses it for Wang. Isn't that always the way?
