Comic for Friday, April 28th, 2006

Pretty much a grab bag here today. Damned internet's been so boring this week - where's my RBI Baseball recreation of Game 6? where's my YouTube of Shatner singing Rocket Man? Why is everything so dead this week? Bleh.
Oh, I fixed Ron's legs in yesterday's strip. Check it out if y'wanna.
1up has a sister site, Game Videos, that is on hold until.. yesterday. Don't really get what the deal there is, but they promise the Zelda rapping ad, amongst other things. So hopefully that'll be cool.
I was flipping through strange magazines yesterday at Coliseum and happened across Giant Robot, a magazine dedicated to Japanese culture. The issue that was out had an interview with George Takei, which was actually kind of interesting. He's apparently, ever since they first started, always tried to work themes of social importance into his addresses at cons. I find that admirable, and also hilarious. A ton of fanboys showing up to hear Sulu speak, and he tells them to impeach Nixon. That's awesome. Lately, he says, he's been railing against obesity, because "our fans are oftentimes overweight, if not obese." Sulu rules. The interviewer also knew that Sulu was the only guy to wear all three colored uniforms in the original series - blue in the pilot, yellow/green for the most part, and red in the Mirror, Mirror universe. Nice take, interviewer. Anyway, moving on.
The internet never stops amazing me. I was trying to find a lit journal called No, and for some reason, this is what came up. Um. OK, then.
Oh, I've been meaning to mention this since last weekend - anyone who's been to Wrigley in the past few years, have you seen the statue of Harry Caray? Because it's FREAKING TERRIFYING. Look at this thing - he's got the souls of the damned coming out of his crotch. It's horrifying. I have no idea what the sculptor was thinking.
Big ups to Diesel Sweeties celebrating six years of pixelated awesomeness. I love that I keep linking to a site with, what, five hundred times my readership? Meh. R. goes on a nice little waxin' poetical about the great part about strippin' on the interweb, the immediacy of it. Well, I've done gone and taken some of that away from myself with trying to stay at least a week ahead of myself. But, since I also don't get to do this for a full-time job, I may go ahead and cut myself some slack on that. 'Sides, I've got that Five and Dime thing goin' on. Oh, and, hey! There's one below.
Because she was complaining about not getting flowers or a gift for Secretary's/Administrative Professional's/Administrative Assistant's Day/Week, here are some flowers for the Secretary and all the other admin assistants in the room.

And here's a Five and Dime that I thought of after the whole Snow thing the other day. Note the terrible drawings and changing scale of Ron in relation to Jen; this is because it's freaking freezing in my office and my hands are barely able to hold a pen while I'm trying to draw Five and Dime half the time.

After that pleasantness, what can I say but have a nice weekend?

2.0 -- Friday, April 28 2006, 07:55 am Honestly, I'll enjoy Snow's spin over the bumbling
buffoonery of McClellan. It's not like there's a believable
word coming out of their mouths anyway, at least now the
delivery will improve.
Secretary -- Friday, April 28 2006, 08:08 am Thank you for the fake flowers from the fake secretary! ;-)
Reggie Ho -- Friday, April 28 2006, 08:17 am Spin is spin, it doesn't matter who's mouth it comes out of.
McClellan or Snow. Davie or Willingham. You can put a
different person out in front of the people, but they are
just going to say the same thing.
Bullfrog -- Friday, April 28 2006, 08:54 am I kind of enjoyed McClellan's flop-sweat, honestly. But,
yeah, spin is spin is spin. Unless you deliver it from the
"No-Spin Zone." Then it's just outright idiocy.
No prob, Sec.
2.0 -- Friday, April 28 2006, 10:11 am Yeah, but I ended up feeling sorry for Scott as he struggled
to not say whatever it was he was supposed to be not saying.
Now, with Snow, I think I'll be able to work up a proper
rage. Something I'm sure Jeremiah will be very excited to
hear.
2.0 -- Friday, April 28 2006, 10:15 am Oh, and I think I need to mention, that hat Ron is wearing
doesn't really translate into the "ugly-hat" that exsists in
reality. The dark portion between the bill and the
cap...three inches of material darkened by about 8 years of
sweat.
Mmmmmmm.
...and I haven't thrown it out. That's the sort of quality
girlfriend I happen to be.
Bullfrog -- Friday, April 28 2006, 10:28 am Ugly Hat, is, of course, available for viewing in the
left-hand navigation bar. I think you'll be able to find it.
