Did I telegraph this one? I did, didn't I?

Posted: 8:55 am, Friday, April 14th

Gonna be a short one today, gang - between church and 15's shindig last night, the site didn't get much attention. Also, a warning in case I'm MIA on Monday - TimeWarner is finally coming over to fix our interweb tomorrow. Or so they say. I'm assuming there's a 40% chance mofos don't show up, and I'm going to be deathly ill on Monday, so in case there's no site update, that's why. At the very least, I'll be able to check into the comments and let you all know that's actually the case. Kind of a horrible place to leave you all hanging, I realize, but I kind of figured we'd have gotten some customer service by now.

Incidentally, I don't know why I dressed Jen in Victorian clothes and Lissa in a 1940s-50s dress. Not that you can really tell from there, but it will become more evident in a few strips next week.

Going to see the Mets-Brewers tonight with 15 and some of her friends (if this is anything like the first time we met 15, it will be quite a while before we see her again, as two-days-on-eleven-months-off seems to be the pattern) and the tickets appear to be pretty solid. Would've been a good time to bring the camera along, so I made sure not to do that. Anyway, I've always been of the opinion that the Brewers should be America's team. For God's sake, the team is named after making beer. They used to have a gimungous keg in center field. What is not to like about this? Probably the fact that Bud Selig used to own the team. Yeah, that would probably be it.

I just got myself a big ol' cup of Starbucks for the first time in forever, and was going to share with you all the Way I See It that I got (#83), but it's kind of long and not tremendously interesting. So here is the way *I* see it:

Snakes on a plane, man. Snakes on a plane.

Hey, everyone have a good Easter if that's your thing and a good weekend if that's your thing. I'll update when I can, and will doubtlessly be around tossing links up throughout the day.

Peeps are fun to blow up in the microwave. Oh the fun things you learn in grad school!

Sweet article on NYC softball leagues.

http://www.themorningnews.org/archives/in_the_ city/for_love_of_the_fame.php

The league I play in admits anyone with a pulse and a wallet (wallet preferable, if you only have one or the other), but I've definitely watched some of the elite leagues in Central Park from time to time. It's something to behold.

By the way, my softball team tentatively has a game against tOSU, in which I am going to make the field run scarlet with the blood of the Buckeyes.

I like the idea of a guy like Ron having a suit with a coordinating tie and handkerchief.

Ha ha, Ron’s an idiot.

I like the Brew Crew. They’re fun and young and the manager keeps talking about how he wants the team to play the game just like the Cardinals do. Very endearing to a Cards fan… Of course, since they’re in my division and they might actually pose a threat this year, I may soon have to learn to hate them and staring spreading rumors about how they eat babies.

Ron looks very handsome.

To the nines.

I've been meaning to ask if anyone's had this Coke Blak or Blac or Blaq or whatever stuff.

Evidently, they were giving a bunch out right by my office - I must've gotten to work before they set up camp. I'm too lazy to go look for some now, and I'm sure they're out already, anyway. Are they trying to muscle in on the Manhattan Special market?

Can anyone help me get a new job?!?!?! I'm losing my mind here!

Bullfrog -- Friday, April 14 2006, 01:43 pm

It's my lunch break, and it's raining outside. Or, at least, it was at the beginning of my lunch break - I'm not near a window. So that's just super.

Anyway, main point of this addendum: Carol from Drink at Work - who I'm pretty sure could totally kick my ass - wrote a really good essay about being torn in a million directions at once and resenting your job that, in reality, puts you in a better position than about 60% of the country or so. And being exhausted. I think we can all relate to this.

I've been to the Hater Nation before, but I just noticed their disclaimer for the first time. Priceless:

The Hater Nation is a satirical site that is intended for entertainment purposes and goofing off on company time. If something on this site makes you angry, you are probably taking this site a lot more seriously than the people who actually make it. Go outside. Take a walk.

Apparently, Monday is Emancipation Day (observed) in DC. Feel free to celebrate.
