Note the new-school Dorito bag.

Posted: 7:41 am, Thursday, March 30th

Not a whole lot today - it's been one of them exhausting weeks. But, hey, how 'bout Lost last night? Damn! Things going on all over the place. That's fun.

Something Awful busted out an absolutely great attack on Shitwit and company yesterday (throwing the current Dems into the fire to some degree, too, since, let's face it, they're not doing a damn thing about anything these days). For God's sake, Something Awful is doing a better job calling attention to the troubles we're in than the networks are. Sandra Day O'Connor said we're en route to a dictatorship - didn't see that on the front page of the Times (of course, I possibly missed that day).

Which would tie nicely into a little rant I wanted to get on about the respect given blogs and lack thereof in the mainstream media. SI had a big long article last week or whenever about sports blogging and what-all, and lead it off with an interview with Bill Simmons, aka the Sports Guy. Unfortunately, I've got some royal writer's block on this subject right now and can't get a coherent paragraph out of it. So we're going to skip it and just link to the full Q&A with Sports Guy. Maybe I'll have more tomorrow on this, I dunno.

But it does tie into sports, which are the two remaining links o' the day here. First, a preview of the wild card hopefuls, including the Sox and the Mets. I've gotta say, I like the Mets' chances and I'm looking forward to watching them a bit. That David Wright is a helluva player. And second, because I like Caple's writing and he doesn't do much of it these days except for that stupid-ass 24 Collitch Ave thing, the top ten baseball destinations (plus one for Fenway). I haven't been to Cooperstown in years and have been meaning to get 2.0 there pretty much since we've been dating - and, astoundingly, we've never been the Fenway, either. Well, it's spring and it's full of promise of the new season and whatever, so hopefully in the next few months we can find time to get up there.

Anyway, that's all I've got - sorry, long day, I'm still shaken from Lost, and, uh, I don't know, other excuses for not writing more.

Yay! Lost was kinda sorta back to its old goodness last night.

MNP -- Thursday, March 30 2006, 09:51 am

I just bought Cubbies tickets for September! I've been before, but the hubby needs to experience #1!

Bullfrog -- Thursday, March 30 2006, 09:58 am

15 is going to break a bottle over your head for that one, MNP.

2.0 -- Thursday, March 30 2006, 10:04 am

Oh no, I can't look!

15 -- Thursday, March 30 2006, 10:31 am

MNP, WHAT THE HEY ??? The "cubbies"? Tell me you didn't become a bandwagon Cubs fan while you lived there and you're just taking him there for the architecture and beer.

I've got some catching up to do - only been to one out of that list. I liked its focus on non-major league ballparks.

MNP -- Thursday, March 30 2006, 10:38 am

Oh, I don't think I'm enough of a baseball fan to really care who I'm watching, to be honest. I'll ALWAYS have the Cards #1 in my heart, but otherwise, baseball is baseball. yeah, I'm a heretic. If it makes you feel better #15, I took Mr. MNP to the REAL Busch the first time we went to StL, long before I even thought of taking him to Wrigley. And the Cubs are playing the Pirates, so I think my other half will be rooting AGAINST the Cubs (is that a good thing??)

#15 -- Thursday, March 30 2006, 11:02 am

Makes sense. Long as you didn't decide you liked the Cubs better, I'm all for going to see oldschool ballpark, baseball and beer (even if Wrigley's not really my thing - it's falling down in chunks! It's just like the Cyclone in Coney Island - I can't figure out why people go near that thing.)

Bullfrog -- Thursday, March 30 2006, 11:09 am

Now it's my turn to smash bottles - the Cyclone is freaking unreal. Have you been on that thing? It's not falling apart in the slightest, it just *feels* like it is. Honest to God, it is the epitome of white-knuckled terror in rollercoasters. Tree walked with a limp for hours after getting off it last May. I love that thing.

#15 -- Thursday, March 30 2006, 11:54 am

I'm way too chicken for that, so I've never been on it. Go ahead and smash...

MNP -- Thursday, March 30 2006, 12:07 pm

phew, glad I'm forgiven.

Check out the WVA's miner's hat in the picture. Goes perfectly with the FORD jacket, don't you think? http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/national/AP-Mi ne-Explosion-Survivor.html?hp&ex=1143781200&en=8d6fe3522d4a9 aa9&ei=5094&partner=homepage

Notre Dame and car racing, what could be more American?!

MNP to Chicago? Ole!

White Caps stadium in lower west Michigan features one of those krispy kreme cheeseburger type creations (w/ bacon). It got a shoutout in S.I. a few weeks ago. A less busy / lazy man would fact check this and provide a link, but I figure the stakes are low...

... after all, this is the internet. A blog, no less. Facts are hard to come by, yes?

Bullfrog -- Thursday, March 30 2006, 05:12 pm

Hey now!
