Comic for Friday, March 24th, 2006

Posted: 7:13 am, Friday, March 24th
To 2.0's mom - I was going to be longer in my answer the other day when you complimented Jen's outfit, but I didn't want to foreshadow today's punchline at all. Anyway, Jen's get-up from earlier in the week is from last November's Lucky. The sweater is from Club Monaco, and the silk charmeuse top is from Marie Marie. When I'm pulling in Penny-Arcade numbers, I fully intend on charging for this advertising, Marie and Club, so don't get too accustomed to this treatment.
Hating the Yankees can be good for business. And, it goes without saying, the soul. A little article about the dude that brought us the Yankee Hater garb that Schil among other popularized. The Goat Fuckers are bringing him to court, becuase they're suck-ass suckers. My favorite line from the article:
"Plus, how many times in life do you actually get to play against a team that you hate so much? Who would imagine that [he] would ever go face-to-face with the beast? Well, I am doing that right now."
"The beast." That's great. I'm sure he meant it to be capitalized, too. Awesome.
I forget if I've mentioned it here, but are we all acquainted with Snakes on a Plane? Here's a primer. My favorite line from *this* article (welcome to today's edition of If Bullfrog Wrote It):
The audio bit uses a Jackson sound-alike shouting, "I want these mother------- snakes off the mother------- plane!" Soon, the growing legion of fans added their voices as they demanded that that phrase also appear in the movie.
I love that it was changed because of popular Internet demand. I wished the government worked that way.
They found an old bomb shelter under the Brooklyn Bridge the other day. I could've sworn we knew about these, but this one seems to have gone completely unnoticed since the Fifties. Awesome.
Great article from the Phat Phree (which is gaining in popularity lately, but I have to give props to Stacked for being the first mention I ever saw of it) that name checks my two favorite Price is Right games.
Kind of a kindred spirit of that article - you have to want to see it, though - in yesterday's Comics Curmudgeon. Check out the bottom half about They'll Do It Every Time. I love Josh's analysis of how the entire comic is based on an almost Seinfeld-ian overreaction to life's little annoyances (without being funny, like Seinfeld was).
Is it just me, or does this woman look like a Barbie doll with no pants on?
Some random baseball stats - I evidently like our outfield.
I'll leave you for the weekend with this rant from Will Durst.

Actually, one thing: Girl who shrieked through the entire first half (so far) of the Gonzaga-UCLA game. I've never hated anyone whose face I've never even seen as much as you. You absolutely suck.

Bullfrog -- Friday, March 24 2006, 11:32 am Someone in the Comics Curmudgeon forum pointed out that
today's Garfield, while not funny, is really kind of freaky
in Spanish. I agree.

Secretary -- Friday, March 24 2006, 11:33 am Yeah, I don't get Garfield. How is it funny?
Bullfrog -- Friday, March 24 2006, 12:15 pm It's funny if you take out Garfield's thought bubbles (as
previously linked):

Actually, the whole thing was a cynical exercise in
marketing, not meant to be as much funny as completely
inoffensive.
