Here I am.

Woo-ee. I think I need a sick day to recover from my sick day. 2.0 had to give a lecture on her thesis tonight, and then we went out to celebrate afterwards. It's not terribly late, but considering that we got up awfully early so she could over the lecture in the morning, it's felt like quite the long day. I didn't get much webbing in today, so, yet again, the links, notso hotso. I do recommend Deadspin for their preview of the tourney so far - it's a good time. Especially Iona, the champs of the MAAC. SUNY Albany hasn't popped up yet, but I'm looking forward to that one.

Anyway, 2.0 talked about the artist she did her thesis on, and for my money, tailored her lecture the best to the time constraints without sacrificing the issue she was trying to prove. (Rovner, the artist, has a show in Chelsea for the next few days still in anyone feels like seeing it.) The other lectures were also interesting, mostly the one on Deep Time and nuclear waste disposal. Since nuclear (or nucular, if you're the sort who steals federal elections) waste takes 10,000 years to decay, it is a fair assumption that the language of today, if not our civilization altogether, will not survive long enough to tell people exactly what's up with the salt flats. So massive, monumental art is necessary. (Scroll down.) Crazy stuff.

It's the Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny! (sound, sfw)

I really don't have much else, and I'm about to pass out from exhaustion. I will end with a link I've halfway been saving. I kind of wanted to hold off on this 'til I beat it, but I found this one game from the 1up article on free games I put up a few weeks back (or something related to it). These dudes loved 16-bit SNES RPG/adventures so much that they decided to make their own called Eternal Daughter. It's oddly awesome. The difficulty of it is a little jacked-up - it goes from being a snap to suddenly it's a snap except the bosses are all impossible, but the save points are well-spaced, and through 55% or so, the game is extremely enjoyable. Just like a SNES RPG, about halfway through, an elemental quest is introduced. The graphics are dead-on 1994. Since it's free, I can't help but recommend it. It may get frustrating for you, as it at times has become for me, but really, that price - it precludes argument.

OK, I should roll. I'll leave by letting you all know that I'm distressed that Page 3 of the Daily News yesterday was what happened in the Sopranos the night before.

The work in Rovner's current show is really quite a bit different than the work I did my thesis on. So much so I'm not entirely certain what to do with it.

Check out the deep time project intstead, it's pretty interesting stuff.

A very happy birthday to MNP! She is taking a personal day that sounds absolutely fabulous!

Dammit! I have that written on my calendar at home, even. Happy b-day, MNP.
