Comic for Friday, March 10th, 2006

I had no idea half the friggin' lyrics of this song, actually.

Man, did I have fun with this one. I also had a good time with most of next week's strips. I'm looking forward to running them. On the other hand, I have absolutely no clue what the hell Jen is wearing and why.

No Five and Dime today - guess I didn't really have much that caught my fancy to draw about this week. The early half was spent recovering from the exhaustion of the weekend, and the latter half was spent.. uh, writing, mostly, I guess. I'm trying to write more during Lent. Also, gave up the Playstation. Which would, you'd think, result in more writing getting done. And I guess that's true, but I'm still not getting a ton of writing done. Too bad, because I've had a crazy influx of ideas lately. I'm trying to get most of them down before they fade into the ether, joining the infamous "malt liquor!" strip.

Funny lost cat sign from Gawker.

Just two other links today, and they're both sight gags. This is from the always rockin' Uni Watch column - how weird is it for Vlad Guerrero to have a clean helmet on? And this shot of one of 15's Cardinal cohorts is from Deadspin. The part with the Card fan screaming is good enough, but check out the Zubaz link at the bottom. Oh, Buffalo, NY. I'm so sorry. For everything. And I really mean it - everything.

Yeah, that's actually all you get on a Friday. Sorry. Oh, wait, congrats to Murph, who I know does not read the site, but who is marryin' a good fella who's also a 'Cuse fan over the weekend. They've been dating roughly since I've become aware of Murph's existence outside of 'friend of a friend,' and we at Five Bucks couldn't be happier for 'em. Peace out.

Gotten a few e-mails - um, OK, so, in my head, the way this strip worked out was that Jen and Ron are basically speaking the lyrics to Weezer's My Name is Jonas, making jackasses out of themselves, and driving the guy away. Evidently, it reads, "Bullfrog is crazy and makes no sense." Which is also a valid interpretation of today's strip.

Yet another sign that when I have a lot of fun making a strip, it generally comes out incomprehensible. Which gives me concerns for basically all of next week's comics.

I got that right away. Great Weezer reference.

I started singing the song in my head once I read the guy's name was jonas. I hope I never meet someone named jonas. Wait, I hope i DO meet someone named jonas, but they don't think i'm an ass because i start singing that song, unless they are an ass, then i don't care.

MJL had an unholy love for this CD. I may have to track it down tonight. The sea is foaming like a bottle of beer. . .

Now you guys have me thinking Weezer. Time to dust off "Pinkerton".

Bullfrog -- Friday, March 10 2006, 11:02 am

Whew, this is all good to read. I haven't listened to much of their stuff since Pinkerton, but, man, those first two albums of theirs were something else.

"My name is Tomez..."

Yeah, I do love that album. Not really a bad track, but of course that's debatable. And it's been too long.

Man, that photo is pretty embarrassing. I guess it's karmic payback for the Cardinals also having supercool fans like me and the deadspin guy?

Rrrrrrright.
