Today marks a momentous occasion in the Life of Me. Five years ago today, I struck out from my aunt and uncle’s spare bedroom in Nyack, NY and moved my desk, my laptop, my Playstation, and the pull-out sofa-bed my parents gave me into a godforsaken basement in Queens. The same godforsaken basement that Ron lives in to this day. Hey, at least it was only $875 a month. My parents, for their part, seemed not at all shaken by the event, summarily dumping my things into the driveway outside and hustling out of the City. As soon as they left, I realized I only knew how to make one meal – Pasta Roni. I began to shake tremendously.
Five years and two apartments later, I’m on top of my game. I’ve been told that to be a real New Yorker, you need to live here ten years and accomplish something great. I don’t know about that second part, that seems freaking ridiculous, but I’m halfway there with the rest of it. Also, I think I should get some sort of dispensation for being here through the blackout, 9/11, the transit strike, the RNC, and now possibly a serial killer. (That’s right, we’ve got some fucked-up shit going on ‘round here these days). I think I should get three years shaved off my waiting period. We’ll give it another two and I’m
callin’ myself for real.
I didn't read the Voice much this week - evidently they made up the cover story? I don't know anything about it. I do like the art of the dude that illustrated the cover story, though, so that's cool.
The World Baseball Classic began last night. Can anyone tell me, without looking it up, what the hell Chinese Taipei is? And why the Olympic rings are in their flag?
Behold, the lousiest subway in the city! Ish! Maybe! Or something!
I'm sure I have other things to say, but I've been at a bar with my li'l cuz for a few hours, so, uh, yeah. You get nothing. I'm sorry. Oh, wait, I have a Five and Dime for you.
I hope you don't hate it.

They use the Olympic flag b/c China won't let them use their

...tm... -- Friday, March 3 2006, 12:37 pm Ha ha--my first comment and it's about sports. I don't know
what kind of baseball training camps they're running in
Taiwan, but Chinese Taipei has been one of the most frequent
winners of the Little League World Series.
